Make sure you know these 3 things as you get ready to submit your AMCAS application (: 1️⃣ You are allowed to put zero hours for an activity. This makes sense for things like the honors/awards/recognitions category or poster presentations, but I wouldn’t put zero hours for things like clinical experience & volunteering — that’s where the hours matter! 2️⃣ You are allowed to put yourself as a contact person for activities. For example, for a hobby like baking or running, it might make sense to put yourself as the contact. I wouldn’t do this for all of my activities, but for some of them it makes sense and is okay. 3️⃣ You don’t have to tell a story for your shadowing activity. If you want, you are allowed to just list the doctors you shadowed with a little extra info about them. Bonus nugget — you are also allowed to put that you shadowed people who aren’t MD/DOs! This isn’t necessary at all, but I did put hours that I spent shadowing a podiatrist on my app. SAVE this post for later if you are applying in the future, & feel free to reach out if you have any questions (: good luck to all of you!!!!! #premed #mcat #amcas #premedstudent #premedlife

Most premeds pick their “Most Meaningful” experiences wrong—and it quietly hurts their entire AMCAS application. As a former medical school admissions committee member at one of the most competitive MD programs in the country, I’ve reviewed 1,000+ applications and seen exactly what stands out… and what gets overlooked. Here’s how to choose your 3 Most Meaningful experiences on AMCAS 👇🏽 1. At least ONE must be clinical experience If a clinical experience isn’t one of your most meaningful… it raises a real question about your “why medicine.” Your AMCAS application (especially your Work & Activities section and personal statement) should clearly show: direct patient interaction emotional impact the moment you knew medicine was for you 2. One should be service / volunteering Medical schools are looking for applicants who are service-driven. If you’re not helping others outside of your resume, it’s harder to show that becoming a physician is truly your calling. Strong examples: community service underserved populations long-term volunteering Consistency > hours. 3. Your third experience = strategic This is where applicants get confused. It can be: clinical service leadership research 🚫 You do NOT need a research experience here Not every applicant needs to be a physician-scientist—and admissions committees know that. 4. Leadership matters more than you think And no—you don’t need to found a club. Strong leadership experiences include: mentoring tutoring / teaching assistant roles taking initiative in a team As a physician, you’ll spend your career: leading teams educating patients teaching trainees Bottom line Your “Most Meaningful” experiences should clearly answer one question: Why should we trust that you’ll become a great physician? If you want help choosing or writing your AMCAS Work & Activities section or Most Meaningful entries— comment “AMCAS” and I’ll send you my full breakdown. #AMCAS #premed #medicalschoolapplication #medschool #futuredoctor

Here are some more general tips to help you create a successful MCAT study schedule: 1️⃣ Start early: Don’t wait until the last minute to start studying for the MCAT. Give yourself enough time to cover all the material and take enough practice tests. 2️⃣ Set realistic goals: Be honest with yourself about how much time you can commit to studying each day or week. It’s better to have a consistent schedule than try to cram in long study sessions that leave you burnt out. . . . #premed #mcat #mcatprep #blueprintmcat #mcatadvice #amcas #instamedicine #instastudent #prehealth #instapremed #medicalschool #medschool #medlife #mcatstudying #premedmotivation #premedstudent #premedlife #premedproblems #futuredoc #futuredoctor #futuredoctors #premedmotivation #premedicine #premedprobs

Med school applications open in May. That means the people who submit early? They’re getting organized right now. Not in April. Not when AMCAS/AACOMAS opens. Not when they’re already overwhelmed. If you’re still keeping deadlines in your Notes app… or telling yourself you’ll “figure it out later”… You’re setting yourself up to scramble. My Med School Application Master Spreadsheet is the exact complete system I wish I had when I was applying. It helps you: ✔️ Track every school in one place ✔️ Organize deadlines before they sneak up on you ✔️ Plan LORs, primaries, secondaries, interviews, and fees ✔️ See your entire cycle clearly — not chaotically This isn’t just a spreadsheet. It’s your application command center. Submitting early matters. Being organized matters. Not burning out before June matters. If you want to feel calm instead of chaotic this cycle… Comment SPREADSHEET and I’ll send it to you. #premedlife #medicalschool #medschoolapplications #aacomas #amcas
