. . . . . . . . . . . . . #universo #ciencia #nasa #space #apollo

🌕 This Apollo 17 footage may look staged—but it’s completely real. Lunar geologist Harrison “Jack” Schmitt briefly loses his balance on a slope, drops a sample container, and slowly tumbles into the lunar dust. There are no wires and no slow-motion effects—just one-sixth of Earth’s gravity combined with a bulky, pressurized spacesuit. On the Moon, a small misstep doesn’t cause a quick fall; instead, astronauts float, drift, and struggle to regain balance. Lower gravity reduces weight, but mass and inertia stay the same—making movement awkward and falls surprisingly slow.

🌙 APOLLO 17: O ÚLTIMO PASSO E O NOVO SALTO! 🌌 #Apollo17 #Nasa #Artemis #LunarRover #SpaceX #Astronomia #Science #SpaceExploration #Lua #AmazingScience

Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmitt slipping and falling on the Moon. Over and over again. This compilation shows geologist Harrison "Jack" Schmitt struggling with lunar gravity during the final Apollo mission in December 1972. At one-sixth Earth's gravity, even trained astronauts had trouble staying upright in bulky spacesuits while navigating rocky, dusty terrain. Schmitt was the only professional scientist to walk on the Moon. A trained geologist, he spent three days collecting samples, taking measurements, and documenting lunar geology alongside Commander Eugene Cernan. But the iconic footage shows him doing something else: falling down. A lot. The Moon's lower gravity means slower falls and softer landings, but the 180-pound spacesuit made getting back up a challenge. Each fall required careful maneuvering to avoid damaging life support systems or tearing the suit. The dust didn't help either. Fine lunar regolith is abrasive, sticky, and got into everything. Schmitt and Cernan collected 243 pounds of lunar samples, deployed scientific instruments, and drove the Lunar Roving Vehicle over 22 miles. But this footage is a reminder that even historic missions involve a lot of stumbling, trial and error, and humans adapting to environments we weren't built for. Apollo 17 remains the last crewed mission to the Moon. No human has walked on the lunar surface since December 1972. NASA's Artemis program aims to return astronauts by 2028, and when they do, they'll probably fall too. Would you stay on your feet on the Moon, or end up like Schmitt? REAL FOOTAGE 1968-1972 🌏 Part 367 ✨FUN FACT : NASA Astronauts discovered that falling on the Moon could be surprisingly dangerous. Even though lunar gravity is only about one-sixth of Earth’s, their bulky spacesuits were extremely stiff and heavy, weighing about 200 pounds on Earth and carrying a large life-support backpack. If an astronaut fell the wrong way, the rigid suit and backpack could make it difficult to stand back up without help. During missions like Apollo 11 and Apollo 17, NASA trained astronauts to roll onto their side and push themselves up, because falling flat on their back in the fine lunar dust could puncture the suit and leave them struggling on there back and on the Moon, with no air, extreme temperatures, and no quick rescue, even a simple fall could become a serious emergency. 🧑‍🚀 Follow @spacegenerationx for more space content #nasa #space #viral #moon #spacex
