The acting/singing/composing couple quickly fell in love with the creative bones of a 1938 home in Weston, CT, originally the hub of a rhododendron farm, and later subdivided by then owner Alan Arkin. It’s now a fabulous mix of cool original character, carefully chosen updates and some wonderfully whimsical moments tell the story of her family’s time well spent making memories together. One year ago, the idea of becoming a business owner with an LLC and an in-person studio felt like a dream that was still years away. Little did I know, it would come to fruition in just a few short months. Within less than a year, @kaigedstudios opened a studio alongside two incredible women, (@ramshackle_vintage & @cozycactusfinds) upgraded to a larger space filled with natural light, and officially established an LLC. Throughout this journey, there were countless moments when I second-guessed my decisions and questioned whether this was truly the path I should be pursuing. There have been multiple mistakes I’ve made throughout this journey. While many supported my choices, a few dismissed my efforts, calling my business “just a hobby” and predicting it wouldn’t amount to anything. Those comments were painful, and for a moment, I almost allowed them to discourage me. The person I was in the past might have given up—overwhelmed by both external judgment and internal doubt. Fortunately, that version of me is long gone. I refused to let negativity, whether from others or from within, define my future. Today, I am proud of this growing business and the progress made in such a short time. I am deeply grateful for the friendships, connections, and opportunities that have arisen from what once was considered merely a hobby. Most of all, I’m thankful that I persevered through the uncertain moments. The lesson I’ve learned is this: if something brings you joy and purpose, keep going. Do not let anyone make you feel unworthy or incapable of achieving your goals. If you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything. I love shopping second hand for many reasons a few which include finding unique pieces, maximizing my budget and opening up a window of opportunity to brands or pieces I might of not been able to afford if they were brand new or custom made. I also love collected and curated feeling interiors so antiques and vintage pieces are always my go to. The downside of second hand shopping is having to lug all those bigger pieces back To your home or rent a vehicle when they can't fit. But @aptdeco takes that hassle out of the equation, their online marketplace that services parts of the country is filled with second hand pieces with a mix of vintage, antiques, and current brands. And the best part is you can have the piece delivered right to your door step. I used the site to source a dining room table and found the perfect French parquet table quickly ordered it and a week later it was in my driveway. I loved how easy they made the process and shopping the site was so easy which makes it much less intimidating if your new to second hand shopping. #aptdecorated #vintage #antiques
