Arrhenius Equation ✍️ It explains how temperature speeds up chemical reactions by revealing the hidden energy barrier that molecules must cross before they can transform. In any substance, molecules are constantly moving and colliding, but most collisions are too weak or poorly timed to cause change. Only particles with enough energy can overcome the activation barrier and rearrange into products. At lower temperatures, very few molecules have this required push, so reactions proceed slowly. As temperature rises, molecular motion becomes more intense, and a much larger fraction of particles gain the needed energy. This causes successful collisions to happen far more often. The result is a rapid increase in reaction rate, often dramatic even with a small temperature change. Scientists use this relationship as a precise tool to predict reaction speeds, estimate activation energy, and control processes in chemistry, biology, and industry.

Acids and Bases can be defined in a lot of ways. Arrhenius Theory, which is the most traditional, is the idea that an acid increases the concentration of H⁺ ions when dissolved in water and that a base increases the concentration of OH⁻ ions when dissolved in water. This theory does not explain some things like why NH₃ is a basic substance, despite not having an OH⁻ ion in its structure. The Brønsted-Lowry Theory explains this by reclassifying acids and bases as : acids are substances that donate H⁺ and bases are substances that accept H⁺. Lewis Theory expands the definition of acids and bases beyond needing H⁺. A lewis acid is a substance that accepts a pair of electrons and a lewis base is a substance that donates a pair of electrons. Now things like BF₃ are considered lewis acids. Lewis acids are also called electrophiles and Lewis bases are also called nucleophiles. In this case the acid and base are likely based on the Arrhenius Theory. Acids and Bases will react with eachother and Neutral compounds to form other, lower chemical potential compounds. In the body, bases can dissolve proteins and fats, cause chemical burns and multiple organ failure. This will result in extreme damage and death if not treated immediately. Acids will also cause severe damage in the form of chemical burns, internal damage and multiple organ failure. Acids and Bases will neutralize eachother, resulting in a mixture of water and salt. This reaction is exothermic and will produce large amounts of heat energy. Attempting to do so with the human body will lead to thermal burns, in addition to chemical burns from both the acid and the base. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU INGEST A BASE! In reality the best thing to do is to stabilize the patient and assess the level of damage. Generally the patient will loose fluid from the wounds created and thus will need IVs to survive. An Arrhenius acid is a substance that produces H⁺ or H₃O⁺ ions when dissolved in water, while an Arrhenius base is a substance that produces OH⁻ ions in water. Example reactions include HCl + H₂O ⇌ H₃O⁺ + Cl⁻ for acids and NaOH ⇌ Na⁺ + OH⁻ for bases. According to the Brønsted–Lowry concept, an acid is a proton (H⁺) donor and a base is a proton (H⁺) acceptor. This definition is not restricted to aqueous solutions. A typical example of a Brønsted–Lowry acid is HCl, which donates a proton, and ammonia (NH₃) acts as a base by accepting a proton to form NH₄⁺. The Lewis concept defines acids and bases in terms of electron pairs.
