A artista transforma materiais reciclados e descartados, muitos deles doados, em esculturas, instalações e assemblages dinâmicas e alegóricas. Cada elemento é limpo, cortado à mão e incorporado por fios de cobre ou grampo. Em escala que torna o excesso visível, sua produção questiona consumo e o desperdício, elevando o que seria descartável a novas possibilidades de forma e significado. Em pleno Carnaval, seu estúdio pulsa como um barracão em construção, onde matéria e imaginação se transformam em novos seres e realidades. Sandra, que é representada no Brasil pela @galeriacontempo, está atualmente em cartaz também na @wg.galeria, na exposição coletiva “Um delírio de carnaval: unir o improvável e celebrar o mistério.” ____ We visited the warehouse studio of artist Sandra Lapage [@sclapage], in Barra Funda, São Paulo, where our founder and curator Marina Bortoluzzi [@mahbortoluzzi] closely followed her intense and deeply manual process. The artist transforms recycled and discarded materials, many of them donated, into dynamic and allegorical sculptures, installations, and assemblages. Each element is cleaned, cut by hand, and incorporated using copper wire or staples. At a scale that renders excess visible, her production questions consumption and waste, elevating what would be disposable into new possibilities of form and meaning. During Carnival, her studio pulses like a samba school workshop under construction, where matter and imagination are transformed into new beings and realities. Sandra, who is represented in Brazil by @galeriacontempo, is also currently on view at @wg.galeria in the group exhibition “A Carnival Delirium: Uniting the Unlikely and Celebrating the Mystery.”

Welcome to my studio, Fiber Art Now community! 🌿 In this reel I’m sharing some of my favorite materials as I work on Nereids — a series of wall-based fiber assemblages inspired by the sea nymphs of Greek mythology. For the past several years I’ve been working with polyester tulle fabric, sewing networks of thread lines that remind me of arteries or dendrites — the branching pathways of the body and the natural world. I love working with richly colored tulle and rely on Tulle Source online as my go-to supplier. They offer an incredible range of shades and sizes, including shimmer tulle that catches the light beautifully. I’m also a dedicated thread fanatic! I love moving back and forth between cotton-based quilt thread and brighter synthetics for embroidery. My favorite thread supplier is Red Rock Threads, based in Nevada — a wonderful small business with a truly exceptional selection. Do you have a favorite fiber or thread supplier? DAILY RARE, MAY 9 ’Quiet Hours‘ by @tuukzs Tù.úk’z (Arthur Machado) is a Brazilian digital artist who has pushed the frontiers of glitch, generative systems, and AI since 2012. His practice folds pixels, code, paint, and sound into hallucinatory assemblages that treat the screen as both canvas and laboratory. Exhibited in more than 20 countries, his work loops through abstract, psychedelic, and cyber-mythic motifs while refusing to settle—each series erases the last so something stranger can surface. A lifelong believer in impermanence, Tù.úk’z spent 2015 roaming Europe as a one-bag digital nomad, trading art for food and shelter and proving that bandwidth can be a passport. He now works from southern Brazil, where he continues to prototype new visual languages and publish them on-chain. Since minting his first NFT in June 2021, crypto art has become the engine of his studio and the main conduit between his experiments and a global collector base.
