_MSince our entire post processed message is streamed to other campuses, posted to podcasts, and clipped for social, I’ve been wanting to clean up the raw dialog a bit and use our crowd mics more intentionally.
Last weekend, I pulled our headset mics out of Waves and noticed almost no difference. Probably a me thing.
I’ve been trying to reduce the noise floor for a while but every time I use expansion or PSE there’s always a tradeoff. Either it cuts off soft speech or it’s too subtle to notice.
Turns out we had a couple @rupert_neve 5045s sitting unused in a rack at one of our campuses. I threw it in line and it’s a beauty.
It cleaned up the noise floor, drastically reduced feedback, and somehow still preserves the quiet speaking moments.
You can hear the noise floor drop right after my knee explodes in the video. Lol.
Not claiming magic but I haven’t heard anything else do it like this.
