MISt. Augustine’s College (popularly called Augusco) was established on 15th August 1930 in Cape Coast, making it the very first Catholic senior high school in Ghana. It was founded by the Roman Catholic Church to provide quality education rooted in discipline, morality, and academic excellence.
Starting with just about 40 pioneer students at the Catholic Mission House, the school later moved in 1936 to its permanent and spacious campus in Cape Coast. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the country’s leading institutions of learning, known for its distinctive green and white colours and its inspiring motto “Omnia Vincit Labor” (“Perseverance Conquers All”).
Augusco has produced generations of outstanding leaders in politics, law, medicine, religion, business, and public service, cementing its reputation as a training ground for excellence. The school also maintains a spirited rivalry with fellow Cape Coast giants like Mfantsipim School and Adisadel College, particularly in academics and sports.
