AURALEEとTOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New BalanceがNew Balanceのアーカイブスポーツウェアを現代にアップデートした新たなアパレルライン「NB Archive Remastered by AURALEE×TDS 」が3月3日にオンラインストアおよび限定店舗にて発売。
アメリカ・フィラデルフィアにいるリッチー・ロハスとイギリス・マンチェスターにいるサミュエル・ピアースから預かった希少なアーカイブウェアを引き受け、現代に甦らすのがAURALEEのデザイナー岩井良太。
岩井自身も熱心な古着コレクターである。実際表参道にあるAURALEEの旗艦店地下にはたくさんの古着が保管されている。「一着一着に当時の素材感や技術、そして時代のムード感までもが詰まっているから」と、古着を触り、実際に腕を通すことが服作りには欠かせないインスピレーション源になっていると岩井は話す。
ヴィンテージとモダンの両方を知り尽くし、新しい時代の都市生活者のワードローブを作る岩井が、最新の技術を用いNew Balanceのアーカイブスポーツウェアを現代にアップデートします。
