The “Japanese multiplication method” (also called the line method) is a visual way to multiply numbers using lines and intersections. It looks cool—and it actually works—but it’s basically another way of doing standard multiplication. 🔢 How it works (simple example: 12 × 13) Draw lines for each digit: For 12 → draw 1 line, then 2 lines (separated) For 13 → draw 1 line, then 3 lines (crossing the first set) Count intersections: Left section → 1×1 = 1 Middle section → (1×3 + 2×1) = 5 Right section → 2×3 = 6 Combine the results → 156 🧠 Why it works It’s based on place value: Tens × Tens Tens × Ones Ones × Ones So mathematically, it’s the same as: 🎯 When to use it Great for visual learners Fun for social media content Helpful for understanding multiplication deeply But for large numbers, it gets messy—so traditional multiplication is faster. #math #mathematics #learnmath #mathtricks #knoledge
