💭how much do you think you could read in 12 hours? yesterday I did a 12 hour readathon and had a blast with it! I started and finished 2 books, and then started and got 60% of the way through one more. This was such a fun way to get my September reading back on track (I’ve been slacking!) and I loved the variety of books I chose to read. Here are the books I read in the order I read them: 💕The Heartbreak Hotel (started and finished) 🌕Lost Souls Meet Under a Full Moon (started and finished) 🗡️The Princess Knight (started and read about 60%) if you’ve done a 12 hour readathon I would love to hear how it went, and if not I would love to hear how you think yours would go!

I recently had a reel take off and my inbox and the comment section was flooded with questions like “how do you read so much!?” This is a pretty common question people ask me just in general, so here’s how I do it! 1. I CHOOSE reading 📖 Over and over and over again I choose reading over any other spare time activities. I can’t remember the last tv show I watched, unless I’m writing- music is lower on the list, and I pass on most movies. I can fit so many books in because I genuinely love reading and I prioritize it. 2. audiobooks 🎧 I won’t get into whether or not you consider audiobooks reading (it is), but 90% of the reading I do is aided with an audiobook! I tend to borrow audiobooks where I have the physical book on my TBR, that way I can immersive read it every chance I get. Immersive reading is where you’re physically reading and listening to the book at the same time! Audiobooks help me listen to books while I’m working, cleaning, exercising, running errands and just basically doing life! I tend to listen to books at 2x speeds and when I’m immersive reading I stay around 2.4x so that the audiobook is reading as fast as I do! 3. A Kindle! 📱 My kindle goes literally everywhere with me! It’s always on my person and I swear this helps me get through so many books! You’d be shocked how many pages you can squeeze in while waiting at the Drs office, while pumping gas, and at the end of the day when you crawl into bed! I get through 1-2 kindle books a week just by ease and accessibility alone! I will say this- I read fast, I always have, and I’m very fortunate to be in a position where I can be reading and listening to audiobooks for the vast majority of my day! This isn’t the case for everyone and I fully acknowledge how privileged I am to be in this position. Whether you read 0 books (but still love them!) or 10000 books a year, you’re a reader and I’ll champion your reading every chance I can get! Do you have any other questions about reading a lot of books!? Drop them below!

I’ve talked about this before and I’m going to talk about it again 😂 Not only is reading fun, it also has so many great benefits!! So if you’re looking for motivation to start reading or read even more, here it is: The biggest thing that reading impacts is your empathy. This is true especially from reading fiction and the reason behind it is simply because you’re reading about so many different kinds of characters with different motives and life stories. You just encounter topics that you might not have encountered otherwise so it broadens your point of views and it puts you in someone else’s shoes. This leads to you becoming more open-minded, compassionate, and empathetic. The second biggest thing that reading impacts is your ability to solve problems. Reading makes you more creative and it helps you grasp complex ideas. Reading is a mental exercise, a “workout for your brain” as many research say, and like training at the gym, regular reading improves your overall imagination. This leads to better decision-making skills and more ideas to find solutions to problems. This can even lead to better relationships overall in all areas of your life. Higher empathy is always a good thing when building relationships and the ability to solve problems within a relationship is crucial. So there is a good chance that if you read a lot of different and varied things, you’ll be better able to build healthy relationships. Lastly, a more obvious benefit from reading is overall happiness. Reading fiction means less time on screens, great escapism, stress relief, relaxation and thus promotes better sleep. In turn this leads to better health and more happiness. BUT I want to stress that this is only if you read varied literature! Reading the same thing/plot/characters won’t give you much! So if you wanted more reasons (or excuses) to read, there they are! 💫 Does this motivate you to read? __ #readinglife #readersofinstagram #readerlife #bookstoread #bookaesthetic #bookreels #bookreel #readmorebooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readmore #readingtime

HOBBY DIARIES: Am I a fast or slow reader? 📚 I’m going to work really hard to rebuild my habit of doing anything other than doomscrolling! I used to be so good at not scrolling so I’m sad about this 😭 anyway this was lowkey very awkward to film in the cafe but I’m glad I was forced to sit down and read a book 😭 it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been able to focus and read (believe it or not, I used to be a book worm before I discovered doomscrolling 🫠)

I never knew about this until my son pointed it out when we were reading together one day, he was like ‘mummy why are your eyes moving so fast’ 🙈 Then I started doing reading vlogs and filming myself reading for this page and I realised from watching them back my eyes go from side to side pretty quickly when I read 😅 I learned (through bookstagram!! 🫶🏻) that I have aphantasia which I think is one of the reasons I read so fast, because I don’t see images or characters or do any sort of world building in my mind when I read, I just literally absorb the words straight into my brain and somehow they make sense 🙈 I think I average out somewhere around 130-150 pages an hour when reading at a normal pace for me, depending on the book and my mood. If I go any faster - which I definitely do when it’s late and I’m exhausted but I just HAVE to know what happens next - then my retention drops sharply. And it’s already not great 🤭 I honestly read in the moment for the vibes and the vibes only - I only really remember the details for my absolute favourite books or books that I’ve read more than once. 😌 Everything else just seems to drop out my head as soon as I finish the last page ready for the next book to slot in. Is that just me orrrrrr?? Are you a fast, medium or slow reader? And do you remember the details of everything you read? 🎀

i’m a fast reader, but not when i have to read essays and need to decipher hand writing and sentence structure. also, people always ask me how i can read so quickly and i have addressed it before, but i: - listen to audiobooks (when on social media, driving and doing household chores) on 2.5x speed (plenty of practice and slowly adjusted over time) - have always been a reader and built on my fast reading skill - set aside time during the week or weekend to just focus on reading q: what type of reader are you? • • • • [reel description: caption in the first part of the reel says: the speed i read with books. the clip is of me speed reading a book. the next clip says: the speed i read when i’m marking exams. the clip is of myself looking confused as I’m marking.] #fastreader #readinghabits
