Because Aurora uses a quorum system: Write quorum (W) = 4 Read quorum (R) = 3 Total copies (N) = 6 As long as W + R > N, every read overlaps with the latest write. ๐Ÿ‘‰ 4 + 3 > 6 That simple equation guarantees that at least one read replica always has the newest data. And the real payoff? Even if an entire availability zone goes down, Aurora still has 4 copies left โ€” enough to keep accepting writes. Lose one more node after that? The database switches to read-only, but your data is still safe. This is called โ€œAZ + 1โ€ failure tolerance.
