Early Mughal rulers like Babur were descendants of both Turks and Mongols. So, the historians decided to call them 'Mughals' - a term that comes from Mongol. But back then, they hated being associated with their Mongol ancestry. In those times, Mongols were viewed as savage and uncivilized nomadic invaders. They preferred to identify more with their Turkish ancestry and Persian culture since that carried an image of sophistication and cultured appreciation for art and etiquette. But the Europeans and Persians continued referring to them as 'Mughals' and that was the name that eventually stuck. #indianhistory #mughalhistory #babur #Hindustan #humayun

Did you know how vast the Mughal Empire in India really was? 🤔 It all began in 1526, when Babur won the First Battle of Panipat and captured Delhi and Agra. At first, the empire was small… But under Akbar, it expanded rapidly across North India, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and even Bengal 🔥 Then came Aurangzeb, during whose reign the Mughal Empire reached its greatest extent — stretching from the north to large parts of South India 📍 But controlling such a massive empire wasn’t easy… over time, it weakened and eventually declined. 👉 Comment below — Which modern Indian states were once part of the Mughal Empire? #MughalEmpire #IndianHistory #HistoryFacts #Babur #Akbar #Aurangzeb #PanipatBattle #IndiaHistory #HistoricalFacts #DidYouKnow #GKFacts #IncredibleIndia #HistoryReels #LearnHistory #IndiaFacts #trending #viral #explorepage #explore #reels #trend #fyp #foryou #trendingnow #trendingreels #viralpost

Supreme Court refuses to entertain PIL for ban on naming mosques after Babur or Babri Masjid — Supreme Court refuses to entertain PIL for ban on naming mosques after Babur or Babri Masjid The petitioner contended that no structure should be constructed in the “name of a person who came as invader in our country”. — The Supreme Court of India on Friday, February 20, 2026, refused to entertain a petition seeking to restrain the construction, establishment, or naming of mosques or religious structures in the name of Mughal emperor Babur or the Babri Masjid. The petitioner’s counsel had referred to an announcement by suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir to build a replica of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad district, West Bengal. After hearing the arguments, a bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta expressed their reluctance to entertain the plea. The petitioner’s counsel then requested to withdraw the petition, and the bench formally dismissed it as withdrawn. Petitioner Objects to Naming After “Invaders” The petition argued that constructing religious structures named after historical figures who were invaders would hurt public sentiment and compromise the dignity of Indian society. The counsel stated, “Kabir has announced the construction of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad despite Babur being an invader. Action should be taken against him.” The plea sought directions to the central and state governments to prevent the naming of any mosque or monument after Babur or Babri Masjid anywhere in India. History in India is never just about the past. It walks into Parliament. It echoes in rallies. It shapes how we argue about identity, nationhood, and belonging. 🇮🇳 In this viral exchange, a speaker challenges Asaduddin Owaisi on whether he considers Babur an invader, linking the question to the Ram Mandir debate and modern political discourse. The speaker then pivots powerfully, asking why — in a nation free since 1947 — we are debating medieval rulers instead of remembering figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, or the countless Indian Muslims who suffered and died in Kala Pani for the freedom of Bharat. Owaisi’s counter-question widens the lens. He brings up historical figures like Pushyamitra Shunga and a Kashmiri king accused of temple destruction, arguing that Indian history cannot be selectively weaponised. His response highlights a deeper truth about Indian politics: history here is complex, layered, and rarely one-dimensional. This exchange isn’t just about Babur. It’s about how nations remember. It’s about whose stories are told. It’s about whether history is used to heal or harden. 👉 Follow @cultureindiaa for more deeply researched perspectives on Indian politics, history, culture, and constitutional values. 🔁 Share this to spark thoughtful discussion, not division. 💬 Comment “🇮🇳” if you believe India’s future should be shaped by unity, not medieval memories. A viral exchange challenges Asaduddin Owaisi over Babur, the Ram Mandir debate, and the political relevance of historical figures in modern India. The discussion expands to Pushyamitra Shunga, Kashmir’s medieval rulers, Kala Pani freedom fighters, and how Indian history is interpreted in contemporary politics. This reel explores nationalism, historical memory, constitutional values, and the role of debate in India’s democracy. On the 5th of Ramadan in the year 899 (Hijri), Babur became the king in Ferghana at the age of 12. After repeated defeats by the Uzbeks, especially the loss of Samarkand, Babur could not rebuild a stable empire there. Therefore, he later founded the Mughal/Timurid Empire in north India in 1526. Northern India was one of the richest regions in the world at the time, known for its fertile land. Compared to the harsh terrain of Central Asia and Afghanistan, India promised long term prosperity and resources to support an empire. The ruling power in north India, the Delhi Sultanate, was politically unstable. Sultan Ibrahim Lodi was unpopular with many nobles, some of whom invited Babur to intervene. This internal division made conquest possible. Babur did not see India as just a raid target. He intended to rule and settle. His memoirs show that although he initially disliked India’s climate, he recognized its potential for building a powerful and enduring state. In Tuzuk i Baburi, Babur writes: "In the month of Ramadan of the year 899 (Hijri), in the province of Fergana, in my twelfth year, I became king." #Ramadan #fergana #babur #uzbekistan #Mughal
