➡️ it's probably not your gear. It's strobe positioning.
✅ And it's easy to fix - just position your strobe over the centre of your housing and directly over your port and you'll light your subject beautifully with a little shadow beneath it to separate it from whatever it's sitting on - and without lighting up all the particles in between, or lighting the "wrong part".

A fixed front‑right ROV camera drifts forward with faint vibration, hull strip on the far left. Neutral‑white 5600K LEDs carve a clean cone through deep blue‑black water with low backscatter, keeping the muddy slope readable—small rocks, burrows, and gentle marine snow. Centered in the beam, a single coffinfish sits motionless—round “puffy” body, bumpy textured skin, short lure above the mouth—then slowly “walks” two careful steps on its small fins. The lure gives one subtle twitch (no glow), and the fish settles again in the light.

SLthis has changed the way i scuba dive 🔍
btw i’m so sorry to that first nudiebranch. not sure if it was entirely my fault, and i certainly didn’t mean for it to fly away like that, but the good news is that it landed and kept on going like nothing happened 🪸
anyways: the flip +15 macromate mini lens from @backscattervideophoto has really made macro diving more fun! i only carry a @gopro and even tho the macro lens is far from a tg7 or other «big» cameras, it allows me to somehow take videos of the smaller things. it’s super easy switching from macro to normal gopro, it’s a lot of try and error finding the right focus point, and the maldives is not the best place to practice macro. anyways: really looking forward to try this even more ✨
can really recommend it to anyone out there only carrying a gopro 💖 (and this is no ad btw, but please sponsor me @backscattervideophoto 🥵)

HAThe elusive wunderpus🐙
What an absolute blessing it is to encounter this animal. I’ve been here diving everyday in Komodo for the last 5 weeks and nobody I know has seen these since I’ve been here. Today, during our morning muck dive, I heard @siti_rahma.99 banging on her tank, so I knew there was something special. I got to spend about 15 minutes documenting and just enjoying the time with this outstanding animal. Watching this creature walking around the sand as its entire body changes colors is such an amazing occasion.
