Who’s with me? 🙋🏼‍♀️😅 I shared a similar reel two years ago, but boy, does this hit home more than ever… . We’re on 2.7 acres and I leave home only about once every two to three weeks now… but you don’t necessarily need “land” to be more self-sufficient and content at home! We started out urban homesteading on an average 9000 sq ft lot, and while I left home a lot more (wasn’t self employed then) we still spent all our free time at home - tending to our gardens, hanging with our kitties and chickens, learning new skills and hobbies, and just making the most of the space we had 💚 . . . . . . #farmlife (but not tradwife) #homesteading #gardening #selfsufficiency sustainableliving, garden life, backyard garden, animal lover, mini donkeys, chickens, crazy cat lady

As the future of food takes center stage we want to create awareness around importance of sustainable agriculture and small scale local farming. Knowing where your food comes from, never meant so much. Beautifully said by Michael Pollan “our food is about to go to the way of clothing and consumer-electronics. Wherever in the world it can be produced the most cheaply”. Mass production of food will be exported to be made in laboratories, where meats, fruits, and produce will be grown from Petri dishes. As we saw during Covid, when big Ag crashes communities across the US are left without food. Laura, the owner of Hemlock Hill Farm says “(relying on big Ag) this is only separating us further from our food source and self sustainable skills like raising food. Farms should be growing food not laboratories.” Laura leads by example stating that “there should be more small footprint farms to support their communities. Small sustainable models that can guarantee access to naturally grown food and transparency about how it’s grown and processed”. She urges people to lean towards local farmers, visit local farmers markets, and support local families raising food in connection with the land. Build a backyard garden. Support holistic and ecologically conscious farmers, and use your dollar to back sustainable agriculture and small scale farming. #supportlocalfarmers #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom #eatlocalgrown #supportlocalfarms #sustainablefarming #sustainablefarm #smalscalefarming #foodfromtheearth #realfood #regenerativeagriculture #knowyourfarmer #knowyoufarmerknowyourfood

Whether it’s a few herbs on your windowsill or a full backyard oasis, every seed is a little step toward growth. The best time to start is now. Plan out your space. Grab you a garden bed or planter. Figure out what you want to grow. Calling all the garden girlies 🌱 Last year I grew my first garden, starting with 50/50 flowers & veggies. I learned a lot, failed to fertilize enough, accidentally grew a pumpkin which then died, fell in love with flowers I once did not like, & helped nurture caterpillars into butterflies. I grew as a person as I watched the garden grow & can't wait to get my hands back into the soil. We still have a few more weeks in MA before we can start planting in zone 6a. I've already ordered the seeds & am planning away as we wait. This year I'm aiming for a flowering lawn, lots of veggies, corn, peppers, tomatoes, & lots of flower varieties. Maybe even a kitchen herb garden on the side of the house. What are you planning for your garden this year? raised beds & trellis @eartheasy . . . . . . . . backyard garden, suburban garden, Massachusetts, slow living

This is where your food begins. Healthy soil. Diverse pastures. Food forests you can walk through and harvest from with your own hands. At the rejuvenate heath & wellness retreat, Brogan will guide you through the @changinghabitsfarm in Maleny — showing you how chickens build fertility, how pasture cropping restores the land, and how regenerative practices create truly nutrient-dense food. You won’t just hear about regenerative farming. You’ll see it. Touch it. Taste it. And you’ll learn practical ways to start growing your own food — whether that’s a backyard garden, a few fruit trees, or simply understanding how to build healthier soil at home. From syntropic food forests to happy, healthy cattle on diverse paddocks — this is soil-to-plate living in its purest form. You’ll leave more connected to the land. More confident in how to nourish yourself and your family. And inspired to grow differently. May 1–3 | Maleny Limited places remaining. Click the link bio to secure your ticket or find out more🤍

The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on the journey of the food that nourishes us. More than ever, it’s important to reconnect with where our meals come from—and teaching our children the value of locally grown, nutrient-rich whole foods is one of the most meaningful and lasting lessons. For our family, planting a garden has always been a cherished tradition. From windowsill herb pots when the kids were little to the backyard garden we’ve recently planted together here in Miami, it has always been about more than just growing food. It’s about spending time together with our hands in the dirt, cultivating a connection to the natural world, understanding the importance of healthy soil, and making thoughtful choices that honor both our bodies and this planet. Tending to our garden instills a sense of responsibility in our children, as each of them has their own tasks, while also nurturing mindfulness and gratitude for the Earth’s many gifts. Watching what blooms and thrives with the changing seasons teaches them that nature has its own rhythm—and that when we align with it, we are more in tune with the world around us. In an age where it’s easy to lose sight of the season when produce naturally grows and the distances our food travels to reach our tables, planting even a small garden reconnects us to the rhythms of the earth. It’s a powerful reminder of the dedication and resilience of American farmers, who work tirelessly to feed us often against great odds. Supporting practices like regenerative farming not only sustains the land we depend on but also ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy its bounty. As we sow these seeds in our backyards and our communities, we’re also cultivating lessons about gratitude, stewardship, and the value of whole, real food. If you’ve ever considered starting a garden, let this be your sign—it’s a gift that nourishes both body and soul in countless ways. 👩‍🌾🥕🍅🥬🧅
