Everyone is obsessed with the loud “CRACK”… but let’s talk about the real magic. When I adjust a horse’s neck and they immediately yawn, lick their lips, or shake their head, that’s not them being bored. That is a massive neurological release. It means the Autonomic Nervous System is resetting and the tension is melting away. My job is to fix the CAUSE of the restriction and restore mobility, not to just make a satisfying noise. Movement > Noise. Every single time. @nicoloviviani98 ⚠️ Important: I am a certified veterinary professional. That DEEP sigh of relief! 🐴😮 (Sound UP 🔊) Watch this precise poll (upper cervical) manipulation. It’s not just about the “crack”—it’s about letting the horse process the release. That massive sigh and the licking of lips are clear signs of the nervous system shifting from tension to total relaxation. 🫠✨ ⚠️ IMPORTANT: I am a certified MSc veterinary physiotherapist. These manoeuvres are performed safely only after a clinical evaluation. NEVER attempt this yourself. #equinephysio #bartvetphysio #asmr #satisfying #neckcrack

Ever notice how some things just… keep coming back? The same tightness. The same restriction. The same soreness showing up again after you thought you’d sorted it. That’s not bad luck, that’s information. Your horse’s body doesn’t create tension randomly. It’s following a signal from the nervous system. So when something keeps returning no matter how many times it’s treated, it usually means the treatment is working at the tissue level, but the signal driving it hasn’t changed. That’s the loop so many people get stuck in. Not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because most approaches don’t reach the control system behind the pattern. When you shift that, the body stops recreating the same output. Things don’t just feel better for a few days, they actually start to change. If you’ve been managing the same issue for a while and you’re ready to look at what’s really driving it, comment RESET below. #equine #horses #nervoussytem #equinetherapy #horserider

Just because a horse is moving… doesn’t mean it’s functioning well. We often focus on the back, limbs, and hooves… But two key areas are still widely overlooked: 👉 the abdominals 👉 the pectorals And yet, they are central to movement. 🔍 Why does it matter? ✔️ The abdominals support the back → Without them: hollow back, compensations, discomfort ✔️ The pectorals stabilize the forehand → When tight: restricted shoulders, reduced stride ✔️ Together, they directly impact: → breathing → posture → overall balance ⚠️ What we often observe: Horse falling onto the forehand Difficulty bending Heavy transitions Poor engagement 👉 Nothing obvious… 👉 Just silent compensations ✨ What massage can change: ✔️ releases deep tension ✔️ frees the shoulders ✔️ improves engagement ✔️ restores fluidity of movement 💬 Physiotherapy doesn’t replace training… it allows the horse to better tolerate it—and truly express it. 📍 Holistic approach: working alongside veterinarians, farriers, trainers considering lifestyle, environment, and movement patterns A horse that moves is not always a horse that feels good. #equinephysiotherapy #equinephysio #horsephysio #horsephysiotherapist #equinephysiotherapist

Seen multiple vets and your horse still isn’t right? That’s because most treatments are chasing what you can see, not what’s controlling it. Muscles don’t tighten randomly, pain doesn’t just appear, it’s the nervous system driving the entire response. If that signal stays the same, the pattern stays the same, and no amount of treatment will truly hold. Change the signal and everything underneath it can finally shift. Comment webinar and we will send you the link to unlock the real driver behind your horse’s pain. #equine #equinetherapy #horses #pony #dressage

Do you know your horses “normal”? 🐴 A new behaviour or fast change is easily recognised, but what about a new horse with “personality quirks”, or a horse that has always been tricky? These horse may have been dealing with underlying pain for a long time and their abnormal became the new normal. 🥕 Let’s fix that. Before labelling it as a training/behavioural issue, let’s rule out pain first. Trying to train through pain rarely fixes the behavior; it usually just leads to increased frustration, escalated resistance and further injury. #vetphys #vetphysio #equinerehab #equinebehaviour #horserehabilitation

🐴 Easy Shoulder Mobilisation 🐎 This exercise improves movement through the shoulder joint, supporting range of motion, stability, and coordination. It activates the thoracic sling muscle group, helping lift and support the trunk between the forelimbs. Benefits include: • Better scapular glide • Improved proprioception • Reduced compensation patterns • More efficient load distribution For performance horses, this enhances stride length, shock absorption, and forelimb reach—key for power, precision, and longevity. #equinephysio #equinephysiotherapy #vetphysiotherapy #horsehealth #horses

Recently a dog parent asked me “Doc, how do you work with horses? They’re so big and scary… don’t you get frightened you’ll get hurt?” My first reaction was: They’re not scary at all! 😄 But honestly- Yes, they are big and they are prey animals—sensitive, highly alert, and easily spooked. That’s why working with horses isn’t just about treatment… it’s about reading their body language every second. It’s like driving a manual car 🚗 I’m constantly checking their ears, eyes, lips and limbs —like checking mirrors. I’m steering while treating, shifting gears with every hand movement, braking when needed, clutching as soon as I see the limb moving to kick... and accelerating (aka stepping away FAST) the moment I see warning signs. Because in equine physiotherapy, understanding behaviour is as important as understanding biomechanics. 🤍 [Equine physiotherapy, Veterinary physiotherapy, Vet Physio Mumbai, Equine behaviour, Equestrian, Horse behaviour, Horse Physiotherapy, Equine physiotherapist India]

At the start of a physio session I’m not only assessing muscles and joints — I’m also assessing the horse’s nervous system state. If a horse is in sympathetic activation (fight-or-flight) the body is primed for survival. Muscles brace, heart rate is elevated, and the nervous system is scanning the environment for potential threat. In this state, tissues stay guarded and less responsive to treatment. The first step is allowing the horse to shift toward parasympathetic regulation (rest-and-relax). As this happens, breathing slows, muscle tone softens, and you may see signs like blinking, licking and chewing, sighing, or the head lowering. This nervous system shift allows the body to release tension so the horse can relax into the treatment and get the most out of the session. Here you can see me working with the beautiful Evie at the start of our session yesterday. 🐴 #equinephysio #horse #equestrian #horsegirl #vetphysio

The Poll & Atlas: A Small Area With a Big Impact The poll (where the head meets the neck) surrounds the atlas vertebra – the first cervical vertebra. It’s a small region, but it plays a huge role in your horse’s movement and comfort. Tension here is incredibly common in horses and can be caused by things like: • Poor posture • Dental issues • Tight tack or rein pressure • Compensations from injuries elsewhere When the poll becomes restricted, it doesn’t just stay there. Because the body works as one connected system, tension in this area can contribute to: ➡️ Neck stiffness ➡️ Back tension ➡️ Reduced engagement behind ➡️ Uneven movement ➡️ Difficulty bending or flexing When the atlas and poll move freely, the rest of the body can follow. Sometimes the key to improving performance and comfort starts with releasing tension in this small but powerful area. ✨ Small restriction. Big effect. #EquinePhysiotherapy #HorseBiomechanics #EquineTherapy
