I always struggle with wanting to doodle or sketch in my sketchbook but not knowing where to start. These five exercises can help you get rid of the fear of starting. And then you can go crazy from there if you want!
There are no rules. If you decide to do a continuous line drawing of the tree in the park that you are sitting at and then you want to make the background in a traditional way then so be it! Just have FUN with it and let it be an avenue to help you just begin. And luckily in the process these doodle can help you get better at drawing over time.
It does take time. So be patient and enjoy the process. Practice makes progress 💛

ARThe Best Sketching Exercise Part 1 🔥✍️
1.) Intuitive Perspective - Drawing cubes in any angle without grids, teaches your brain to see where the “camera” is positioned. The first 3 lines you draw determine what angle the rest of your drawing will be in.
2.) Rotating forms - A lot of dynamic poses require twisting and turning of forms. Learning how to rotate simple forms like cubes is much easier to do than complex anatomy. You can even use cube mannequins to pose characters and plan your drawings.
3.) Form manipulation - Notice how some of the boxes are missing chunks or have rounded corners. Sometimes I ignore all of the internal lines altogether. Manipulating forms is a way to add visual interest to your drawings. Learn how to carve pieces out of your boxes like a sculptor. It’s a way to learn how to draw anything!
