Batman beyond had big shoes to fill following the critical acclaim of its predecessor, Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995), a show praised to this day for its stunning art-deco style visuals. In my opinion, Batman Beyond offers visuals just as breathtaking, carrying forward much of the artistic direction we grew to love in the previous series. Here, the 60:30:10 color rule is a general guideline seen across all mediums of art, from paintings to interior design, in which (roughly) 60% of a scene is one color, with 30% being a secondary color, and 10% being an accent color. In this case, the show’s vast world-building and striking use of color is brought to a digestible scale, keeping incredible scenes visually appealing.
