Of course I have to piggyback off of @jlg_woodworker thoughts on the @makitatools XGT 40V multitool. It’s an excellent tool and I completely agree with him — it’s definitely one of the best multitools out there. I tend to use it more for finer work where precision matters. With that said, the most powerful multitool I’ve personally used and owned is the @milwaukeetool M18 Fuel multitool. By the way, I still call them “Fein tools.” That’s what my old boss used to call them because Fein was the original multitool — kind of like calling a circular saw a “Skil saw” or a reciprocating saw a “Sawzall.” You know how that goes. Anyway, I absolutely love Makita power tools and stand by them. In my opinion they’re right up there in the Cadillac category of tools. Alright I’ll be honest here… I’ve had the @makitatools s XGT 40V rear-handle circular saw for almost two years now, and truthfully I’ve only run it a handful of times. For some reason I always find myself grabbing the OG Makita 36V rear handle. Maybe it’s because it was my first cordless rear-handle saw, or maybe it’s just because it’s the original that I got used to. Now don’t get me wrong — the 40V is definitely more balanced and feels great in the hand. But that 36V still absolutely slings lumber and gets the job done every single time. Rear-handle saws are my go-to for cutting stringers, rafters, and ripping plywood on the jobsite. If you’re already running Makita 18V tools and thinking about stepping into the XGT 40V platform, in my opinion it’s definitely worth it. Shoutout to @makitatools for making some of the best saws in the game.
