RL3 tips to implement for your next beep test:
1. Time your speed to the beeps. Don’t go faster than you should. Get to the end line right at or slightly before the beep. The first 2-3 levels are generally easy. You don’t need to go hard (although if you’re struggling to get through levels 2 and 3, you have bigger issues to address).
2. Position yourself to be ready to go when you hit the line. Do this by starting to turn your body before you hit the end, rather than hitting the line, then turning.
3. Accelerate as quickly as possible out of the turns, especially when you’re reaching your limits. Do this by pumping your arms quickly.
These little things can go a long way in boosting your performance. Of course, they’re not the only things that determine performance, but that’s a topic for another day.
