Advice for any beginner knitter (as a beginner knitter) ✨ ① start by using budget-friendly yarns ! In the beggining, you will make a few mistakes (i made a lot hahah). It is not necessary to use the best of the best yarns for your first projects ② your first projects : start with easier projects such as hat, scarf, coaster and such ! It will give you some time to get used to the techniques and you will get better and better at it. I also find it motivating, because they take less time to be completed ③ When you are ready to make your first sweater, I highly recommand the #stepbystepsweater from @handmade_by_florence 🤍 she has an amazing video showing you all the steps ! I am a visual learner and this sweater absolutely helped me ④ Don't worry if you get overwhelmed when reading patterns for different projects ! Just take it step by step and watch youtube videos if needed. I personnaly like to rewrite and "translate" the pattern when I am not too sure about it, to make sure I understand ⑤ Just have fun and enjoy ! If you’re teaching yourself to knit, choosing a sweater for your first project is unrealistic…and it will probably make you want to give up quicker. Do this first: 1) Knit a bunch of short rows in stockinnete. This will make you confident with knitting and purling, and switching back and forth between the two. 2) Try a different stitch. Once you feel confident with stockinette, practicing a different stitch will build your confidence that you can learn new techniques! 3) Try a challenging pattern like ribbing! You don’t have to finish the full project, just learn how to do a technique that you’ll need to know for your first garment (hat, sweater, bag, etc). Your first few attempts will probably have a lot of mistakes and that’s fineee! The more confidence you gain while practicing, the better your first real project is going to be <3 #knitting #beginnerknitter #knitter
