El Beyonder pre-retcon no es solo un ser poderoso: es la personificación de lo ilimitado. En los cómics originales de Secret Wars, se revela como una entidad que existe más allá del multiverso Marvel, un plano de realidad tan vasto que todo lo demás —galaxias, dimensiones, conceptos— resulta insignificante a su lado. Su poder no tiene comparación: crea y destruye universos con un pensamiento, reescribe leyes físicas, resucita muertos y reduce a los seres cósmicos a simples ideas. No es un dios que gobierna la realidad, es algo mucho más inquietante: la realidad misma observándose a sí misma.
Lo que lo hace verdaderamente superior a cualquier otro ser, incluso comparado con entidades de Marvel y DC, es que no tiene límites narrativos claros. El Tribunal Viviente, Eternidad, Muerte o incluso el mismísimo Lucifer de DC existen dentro de un sistema; el Beyonder pre-retcon está fuera de todo sistema. Para él, el multiverso Marvel es menos que una gota de agua en el océano. No lucha, no compite, no demuestra: simplemente es. Su curiosidad por la humanidad no nace de la empatía, sino del asombro de algo infinito intentando comprender lo finito, como un escritor fascinado por un personaje que sabe que puede borrar en cualquier momento.
Tan descomunal era su presencia que incluso los propios escritores lo reconocieron como un error glorioso: demasiado poderoso para existir sin romper la historia. Jim Shooter y otros autores lo describieron como algo imposible de contener, una entidad que trascendía incluso la intención creativa. Por eso fue cambiado, reducido, “arreglado”. El Beyonder pre-retcon no fue derrotado: fue corregido por la narrativa. Y en ese hecho vive su leyenda, como el recordatorio de que, por un breve instante, existió un personaje tan absoluto que ni la ficción pudo controlarlo.
