Avoid all inflammatory foods and focus on eating green leafy and cruciferous vegetables. If symptoms still arise, you may need further medical intervention.

PBC is an auto immune liver disease affecting the tiny bile ducts within the liver. When these bile ducts get injured by acids injured liver cells, and the flow of bile is reduced. The majority of people affected by this autoimmune liver disease are women.. it is a rare disease affecting under 20 in 100,000 people.

3. Biopsy will show classical features.
Treatment includes Ursodiol
not everybody has a complete response and we have not had many options until very recently that are well tolerated.
Ask your doctor if you are a candidate for Elafibrinor (Iqirvo). Monitoring is required and should be managed by a liver or gastroenterology specialist.

TAToday is Biliary Atreisa Day …let’s talk about a side not much talked about the emotional side of Biliary Atresja. As a kid, I felt isolated. I remember looking around at other children running, playing, living freely, and wondering, “Why me?” That question lived in my chest for years. It came with anger I didn’t know how to express and a jealousy I felt ashamed of, jealous of kids who didn’t have to grow up in hospitals or carry fear the way I did. That turned into anger and I admit in the past I was a bully because of it.
I wish people understood the loneliness too. Even when you’re surrounded by family, you can feel completely alone because no one else your age is dealing with what you’re dealing with.
There’s also that heavy feeling of being a burden. As a child, you don’t have the language to explain it, but you feel it, the worry in your parents’ eyes, the extra attention you need, the guilt that sits quietly in the background.
And more than anything, I wish people understood the longing to just be accepted and normal. To not be “the sick kid.” To feel like you belong in your own childhood. It was really hard for me to make friends and keep them. I was taught not to talk about my illness.
Living with BA shapes your emotions long before you ever find the words for them and those early feelings stay with you as you grow.
I am thankful to have found a community within @bareinc_org to share my story without judgement.

GAWith a history of biliary dyskinesia diagnosis I cannot emphasize how important it is to focus on stress ⬆️⬆️
Stress can have physical, mental and emotional side effects on the body. For me it manifests in my digestion, specifically in the gallbladder.
I went on this journey to save my gallbladder and drastically changed my diet. But was still experiencing attacks and pain? I was experiencing…
➡️daily pain and spasms. It felt like someone was constantly poking me with a pen on my upper right abdomen
➡️ pain when I had any sense of anger or frustration surface
➡️ and attacks when I was going through difficult things. Ex: I lost my dog and job
But I was eating well and doing all the right things….What was the correlation? STRESS
Stress can have many negative side effects on our health when we choose to see it or act on it negatively. Stress shuts off your digestion, your livers ability to do its 500+ functions, your bile to flow between your liver to gallbladder and your gallbladder to contract. Stress can impact your gallbladder function.
So if you have a history of biliary dyskinesia or hyperkinetic gallbladder diagnosis I cannot emphasize how important it is that you make stress your #1 priority outside of diet! These are some things that have helped me along my way:
1- walking daily and listen to positive podcasts or audibles
2- walk in nature
3- tapping, EFT
4- affirmations
5- prioritize bedtime
6- therapy to work through feelings and past trauma
