To celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science and National Inventors Day, we are highlighting just some of the very useful inventions that women have created throughout history: 🚗Windshield wipers were invented by Mary Anderson, something people couldn't imagine not having now! ❌Liquid Paper (correction fluid, commonly known as white-out) was invented by Bette Nesmith Graham- it was originally called Mistake-Out ✆ Caller ID was invented by Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, one of the first African American students to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 🛡️Marie Van Brittan Brown, an African American nurse, co-invented the first home security system in 1966 with her husband Albert L. Brown. She wanted a way to deal with high crime rates and slow police response times in her Queens, New York neighborhood during the 1960s 👔Sarah Boone was the second African-American woman to be granted a patent, for her improvements to the ironing board design 💪Stephanie Louise Kwolek invented Kevlar, a very strong, lightweight, and heat-resistant fiber (most commonly known for being used in bulletproof vests) Swipe to the next page to see some of the original patents submitted by these awesome women! #February11 #WomenInSTEM #BlackHistoryMonth #GirlsGetItDone

Bet you can't name these women. Yet they changed the world 🌍 Today is International Day of Women in Science, and I want to talk about something that still makes me frustrated: the lack of acknowledgement of women from scientific history. These brilliant minds cracked the code of DNA, disproved a fundamental law of physics, developed life-saving vaccines, and revolutionized our understanding of the universe. But while their male colleagues collected Nobel Prizes and textbook mentions, these women were footnoted, forgotten, or flatly ignored. This isn't ancient history. This is still happening. When I walked into my university physics class, of 89 students, only 4 of us were women. Not because girls can't do physics—but because somewhere along the way, we're taught that science "isn't for us." That physics is a "male subject." That laboratories and equations are boys' territory. It's a lie that costs us brilliance 💪🏻 ✨Women have the curiosity, the creativity, the analytical minds, the determination, and the collaborative skills that make extraordinary scientists. We always have. The only thing holding us back is a narrative written by a system that excluded us—and then used our absence as evidence we didn't belong. 💛To every girl who loves asking "why?"— Who pulls things apart to see how they work. Who stares at the stars and wonders. Who scribbles equations or gets lost in lab experiments: You belong here. Science NEEDS you. The next breakthrough in cancer treatment, renewable energy, or space exploration could come from YOUR mind. Don't let anyone—not statistics, not stereotypes, not a classroom where you're the only girl—convince you otherwise. The women in these images didn't have role models. They didn't have support systems. They faced barriers we can barely imagine. And they changed the world anyway. Imagine what YOU could do with fewer obstacles in your way. Let's rewrite this story. Together. #WomenInScience #InternationalDayOfWomenInScience #Physics #STEM #WomenInSTEM

Happy International Day for Women and Girls in Science! 👩‍🔬 According to UNESCO, globally only 1 in 3 researchers identify as a woman, only 35% of science, technology, engineering and math graduates are women, only 22% of STEM jobs are held by women in G20 countries and within those jobs only 1 in 10 leadership positions are held by a woman Every scientist who’s a woman was once “just a girl” so don’t hold back, be a girl… and be unstoppable! #science #STEM #womeninstem #justagirl #phd

Happy National Women’s History Month, where we will be celebrating the women who broke barriers and engineered the world we live in. ✨ Women have always been building the world, even when no one was watching. From pioneers like Emily Warren Roebling to innovators like Katherine Johnson and Hedy Lamarr, their impact shaped history long before they got the credit. If you ever think you can’t do it, remember: they did it when the odds were even higher. You belong in the room. You belong on the site. You belong at the table. And yes, you absolutely can. 🩷👷‍♀️ #engineering #engineer #womeninengineering #engineeringstudent #femaleengineer
