Le bogolan est le tissu traditionnel et ancestral malien. Bogo veut dire la (boue/ terre) et lan ( fait avec/ issu de) en langue bambara, qui est celle la plus parlée au Mali. Hier Boubacar Doumbia, directeur du Centre Ndomo, une école et entreprise de fabrication de Bogolan à Segou, m’a fait faire le tour des lieux et l’un de ses artisans m’a expliqué les processus de fabrication de ce tissu royal. Une légende malienne raconte qu’un chasseur soninké était rentré chez lui tacheté de sang de l’animal qu’il avait tué, il y’avait beaucoup de boue sur sa tenue aussi. Sa femme, lui prit son boubou et le lava à l’aide d’une concoction faites de feuilles. Lorsque celui sécha, elle remarqua que les taches de sang étaient parties, mais que celles avec la boue avaient changé de couleurs. Elles étaient devenus ocres pour certaines et d’autres rouges. C’est ainsi qu’elle commença avec la boue et des feuilles à créer des motifs et couleurs sur les tenues de son mari. Elle transmit ce savoir aux autres femmes Soninké du castre des forgeronnes, qui elles même le transmirent aux femmes des autres ethnies maliennes. Avec son centre, Boubacar tient à ce que ce savoir ancestral ne s’éteigne pas, et qu’il se transmettre de génération en génération. Tout le processus de création du tissus bogolan est 100% naturel et bio. Il y’a aucun produit chimique, et la technique utilisée encore de nos jours est la même que celle datant de siècles auparavant. Indigotier, feuilles de bouleau, écorces de raisins sauvages, argile, boue et sans oublier le coton ( qui sert à la confection du tissus bogolan) et le séchage au soleil sont les éléments de création. Chaque motif sur les tissus bogolan ont des significations qui renvoient souvent à la famille, la place importante de la femme africaine dans les sociétés matrilinéaires et aussi des dictons. J’ai acheté un grand bogolan blanc ( que vs apercevez en vidéo qd le monsieur le pli). Les symboles dessus représente une personne qui a un ou des enfants et qui voyage beaucoup vers des routes de connaissance, découverte et dont sa bonne étoile la mène à rencontrer de belles âmes .
