Shanking and corking this leather boot build! Here we are opening up the lasted uppers after the paste between the liner and the outter has dried, removing the lasting nails, cleaning up any excess dry paste, placing the steel shank, and then smoothing it all out with a cork layer. Turning the upper leather out for this stitchdown boot build! These leather Chelsea boots have been stretched and glued to their forms, now it is time to open them up for the next step… here we are removing all the nails after the glue has set, carefully releasing the leather and turning it to an outward flange, hammering a clean fold line, and scratching off the residual glue paste. These steps setup for the next processes as we will attach a thick leather midsole to this exposed bottom surface with glue and a heavy stitch around the full perimeter. #asmr #howitsmade #handmadeboots #shoemaking #leatherboots

Sewing some leather insoles! These insoles are handmade in my workshop using only leather and cork which are natural, won’t break down like plastic foams, and won’t smell like whatever your foot smells like. The 2mm thick @wickettandcraig leather top layer will form and patina beautifully to your foot, the cork underneath provides some resilience and bounce to your step, there’s a sewn in leather arch support, and the formed contour to the leather allows for an easy initial fit as the insole conforms between your foot and the boot. I really appreciate the great responses these have gotten so far and enjoy making each one by hand in my shop knowing it’s gonna make someone’s boot situation even better out there. #asmr #handmadeboots #insole #mensfootwear #sewingmachine

Sewing the vibram cup soles onto these leather sneaker boots! The leather uppers have been prepped and sewn to the thick leather insole to form the forever bootie, now the replaceable vibram cupsole is primed and cemented on, then it gets stitched around the perimeter to hold everything together. The toe design of this boot allows the cupsole to be sewn in with my cylinder arm patcher machine which isn’t specialized enough to get around a closed toe, then afterwards the toe is hand sewn together. Finally the gusset tongue and eyelets can be sewn and installed once the clearance is no longer needed for the earlier steps. Without having the specialized sewing machines for this style of shoe, this design and sequence of assembly allows me to still make it happen. #asmr #howitsmade #handmadeboots #handmadeshoes #shoemaking #shoemaker #leatherboots #leathersneakers #mensboots #madeincanada

Cutting and sewing some contoured leather insoles! Here we are cutting and shaping the thick leather arch supports and attaching them to the wet formed leather contour insoles. The glue helps keep the plied shape that will fit your boot and foot, the sewing locks it all down and looks nice. Next we will attach the cork padded bottoms and sand all the edges clean so they are ready to go! The cupped edges of these leather insoles are easier to get in your boots than flat ones as the sides will roll up to fit rather than having to perfectly trim a flat insole. The rolled up sides will help provide more support to your foot as well, or else just trim the sides off as necessary if ya don’t need it. #asmr #howitsmade #mensboots #leatherwork #insoles
