DIY Self-Watering Planter ♻️
Why throw away glass bottles when you can turn them into beautiful self-watering planters? With a little creativity, you can grow plants effortlessly while helping the environment. Let’s make one🧑🎨
Materials Needed:
✔️ Clean glass bottle
✔️ Bottle cutter
✔️ Gloves
✔️ Hot & cold water
✔️ Sandpaper
✔️ Cotton cord
✔️ Soil & small plant
✔️ Net or mesh
✔️ Decoration (paint, tape, etc.)
Step-by-Step Guide:
1️⃣ Cut the Bottle:
Adjust the bottle cutter to your desired size.
Wear gloves and firmly rotate the bottle against the blade.
Ensure the cut line stays even.
2️⃣ Separate the Bottle:
Use the hot & cold water method—pour hot water, then immediately pour cold water to break the bottle cleanly.
Be careful and repeat if needed.
3️⃣ Smooth the Edges:
Sand the edges to make them safe to touch.
4️⃣ Decorate Your Planter:
Customize with paint, tape, or any creative touch! I used metallic tape for a simple sober look.
5️⃣ Set Up the Self-Watering System:
Fill the bottom part of the bottle with water.
Insert a cotton cord through the top half, letting it hang into the water.
Cover the hole with a net to prevent soil from falling in.
Add soil and plant a small indoor plant.
6️⃣ Maintain Your Planter:
The plant will absorb water through the cord as needed.
Change the water weekly for freshness.
