Under‑Ice Bowhead🧊🐋 A bowhead whale glides beneath the ice ceiling—massive rounded head, arched mouthline, and that pale chin patch catching the neutral‑white ROV beam. No drama, no tail beats… just a slow, silent pass before it fades into blue‑black. AIvideo Turn the sound on for faint ROV hum, soft water hush, and subtle ice crackles. How would you feel if 100 tons of whales were swimming underneath you? This is a bowhead whale that lives up to 200 years. I will send everyone who writes how many whales there were in the video a link to wallpaper with whales. <- Imagine, these whales may personally remember the very height of whaling in the last century, when oil products had not yet replaced blubber and whalebone and saved the population. Wrangel Bay and the Shantar Islands are considered to be home to the largest population of Bowhead whales, and this is where you can snorkel with them. There are approximately 400 individuals in the Sea of Okhotsk, and up to 100 enter the bay at a time. They itch here on the stones, freeing themselves from old skin, and therefore scientists assume that this place serves as a kind of beauty salon for them. Killer whales, which periodically come to chase bowhead whales, use the bay as a training ground for young killer whales. However, bowhead whales are careful, and if they are not fleeing from killer whales, then it is safe to swim with them - they will not even raise a wave.

Masters of the ice 🐋❄️ Bowhead whales are true Arctic legends — some living for over 200 years - the oldest living mammal! With powerful skulls, they can break through ice up to two feet thick just to breathe. Once hunted nearly to extinction around Svalbard, only a few survived. So every sighting we get around the pack ice feels like a gift. . . . #bowheadwhale #bowhead #arctic #packice #ice #whales #wildlife #sonynordic #earthcapture #animals #whales #marinemammals

A beautiful look at the second largest animal on the planet, a fin whale, with its throat pleats expanded after a successful foraging dive! We’ve had a sudden influx of fin whale sightings lately on the 2.5 hour Hana Hou trips, capping off what has been one of the best Decembers for whale watching in recent memory! The whale action shows no signs of slowing down, especially with the arrival of more gray whales on their annual migration, along with lots of food currently in our waters for feeding whales like humpback and fin whales. We had something extra special happen on today’s 2.5 hour trips, so stay tuned for that footage tomorrow! This beautiful clip was taken by Captain Michael yesterday! @theoceantourist

A bowhead whale breaking the ice to breathe! 🧊🐋⚒️ These Arctic giants are so specialized for frozen life that they can smash through ice up to 60 cm thick using their reinforced skulls, something Antarctic whales don’t typically need to do, as they migrate away from heavy sea ice. Built for ice, silence, and endurance, bowheads might just be the longest-living mammals on Earth, with some individuals believed to live over 200 years. 🎥 I came across this amazing clip by @fredrik_christiansen and just had to share it with you all. Humpback whales have incredibly long fins. You especially notice it when you look at photos or videos of other whale spacies, or videos like this. Look how flexible and floppy they are. These fins help to make humpbacks very agile, able to maneuver and turn even faster and more tightly then smaller animals. I’m always impressed by their maneuverability and it makes me realize just how clumsy we humans are in the sea.

The rarest encounter Ive ever had, and no its not AI, meet one of the deepest animal on earth the Blainville’s Beaked whale. These whales are some of the most elusive mammals on the planet. They spend only a few minutes at the surface between dives that can last over an hour and plunge to depths of 1,000–1,500 meters, making close encounters almost impossible. Blainville’s beaked whales are part of the largest but least-known group of whales on Earth, the beaked whales, with over 20 species that remain shrouded in mystery. They use extreme suction feeding to hunt squid in the deep ocean and theres barely information about them. Permit 3298 MPR/DIREN #beakedwhales #rarewhales #deepanimals #expeditions

How would you react if a huge sperm whale approached, opening its massive jaws and directing a series of powerful clicks at you? 🐋 📽️ @bluescape.th x @b.blanked Despite their imposing presence, these magnificent creatures pose no threat to humans. The clicking sounds you hear are actually a form of echolocation, similar to sonar, used by sperm whales to navigate the deep ocean and find their favorite food - giant squid. Although such an encounter would be unforgettable, watching patiently from a respectful distance and letting them come to you on their terms is the best way to appreciate these oceanic giants, while prioritizing the safety of both whale and human.

Whales blow… -Imagine if breathing wasn’t automatic. -Like… you had to consciously decide to stay alive every few minutes. That’s a whales life. They manually flex muscles to open their blowhole, take a breath, then let it snap shut into a watertight seal before diving back into the abyss.
