You’ll usually see them in kitchens, living areas, or hallways, and there are two main types you can choose from, with one option being slightly more expensive depending on how it’s constructed and how much framing or finishing is involved.
Bulkheads are an awesome design tool because they allow you to bring in feature lighting — whether you’re adding downlights, strip lighting, or even statement pendant lights — and they help define spaces in a clean, architectural way.
One of the biggest reasons builders use bulkheads, or why clients choose to add them to their plans, is that they help create a sense of extra height and space by tying the internal ceilings in line with your eaves.
