Here's a quick CalTopo tip for you! The Snap To function is insanely useful for snapping a line to a particular feature (such as a trail) when you are measuring or drawing a line or polygon on the web. But what if you need to switch the type of feature you are snapping to in the middle of measuring or drawing? Easy! Use the Snap To drop down menu in the upper left hand corner of the map viewer to change the data source. For example, if you want to head off trail and follow a creek, you can change the Snap To drop down menu to "Hydro" to highlight all the creeks, rivers, lakes and bodies of water as opposed to the trails and roads. You can change what the line is snapping to at anytime in this menu. Unfamiliar with Snap To or not sure what the different Snap To data sources are?
