Albert Camus was born in 1913. He didn’t look for comfort in easy answers. From an early age, he faced poverty, illness, and the feeling that life had no clear meaning. Instead of escaping this truth, he chose to face it honestly. Camus believed the world is indifferent, and that struggle is part of being human. In works like The Stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus, he showed how people live, suffer, and continue despite the absurdity of existence. Even today, Camus speaks to those who feel empty yet refuse to give up. He reminds us that meaning isn’t given — it’s created by how we live. .Albert Camus (born November 7, 1913, Mondovi, Algeria-died January 4, 1960, near Sens, France) was a French novelist, essayist, and playwright, best known for such novels as L'Étranger (1942; The Stranger), La Peste (1947; The Plague), and La Chute (1956; The Fall) and for his work in leftist causes. He received the 1957 Nobel Prize for Literature. Less than a year after Camus was born, his father, an impoverished worker, was killed in World War I during the First Battle of the Marne. His mother, of Spanish descent, did housework to support her family. Camus and his elder brother Lucien moved with their mother to a working-class district of Algiers, where all three lived, together with the maternal grandmother and a paralyzed uncle, in a two-room apartment. Camus's first published collection of essays, L'Envers et l'endroit (1937; "The Wrong Side and the Right Side"), describes the physical setting of these early years and includes portraits of his mother, grandmother, and uncle. A second collection of essays, Noces (1938; "Nuptials"), contains intensely lyrical meditations on the Algerian countryside and presents natural beauty as a form of wealth that even the very poor can enjoy. Both collections contrast the fragile mortality of human beings with the enduring nature of the physical world. . By@virtuallycallm . #philosophy #virtuallycallm #calmness #albertcamus #selfrespect

Albert Camus (1913–1960) was a French-Algerian author and philosopher known for developing the philosophy of absurdism, which posits that humanity inherently searches for meaning in a silent, indifferent universe. His work, including The Stranger and The Myth of Sisyphus, focuses on themes of alienation, rebellion against meaningless existence, and the necessity of finding freedom through accepting life's inherent lack of purpose. While often associated with existentialism, Camus rejected the label, focusing instead on moral integrity, human solidarity, and a revolt against absurdity. Camus argues that human life is filled with a desire for order, meaning, and reason, which the world simply does not provide. This tension between human expectation and the universe's indifference is the "absurd". Rather than committing suicide (either physical or philosophical, like adopting religion), Camus argues one must "revolt" against the absurd by living passionately and freely, accepting the lack of meaning as a form of liberation, as seen in The Myth of Sisyphus. Later works, such as The Plague, pivot towards the need for solidarity and resisting evil (both moral and political), advocating for a secular humanism and justice, despite the ultimate meaninglessness of the universe. #albertcamus #philosophy #director #bookaholic #cinemaquotes
