Their menu focuses on traditional soups, including gomtang, oxtail gomtang, seolleongtang, galbitang, and even eel soup (which surprisingly reminds me of gamjatang!). Some soups come without seasoning, so you can adjust the flavour exactly to your liking at the table.🤤
They also serve grilled meats like wagyu bulgogi and grilled short ribs. The marinade is beautifully balanced, rich without being overpowering, and perfect with a bowl of rice.🔥

I had the honor of listening to Mesa perform it live last week at none other than @carnegiehall, whose hallowed concert stages I've missed dearly these past 19 months. Since I wanted to take in the grandeur of the entire venue, I decided to sit on the top 5th tier balcony, perched in the middle to truly appreciate the full acoustics of the space. And while I loved the entire performance lineup from the @sphinxorg program that night, this particular piece lingered with me long after I headed home and throughout the weekend that followed. Mainly because it brought me back to so many moments of 2020, harrowing and hopeful ones alike. As I sat there, shrouded in the dim orchestra lighting, my eyes welled with tears, my heart brimmed with gratitude. The end of the piece, which I highly recommend listening to via the full video on YouTube, caps off with 7 deep, bell-like notes (thanks to the lowest string on the cello tuned half a step lower than usual), signifying the 7pm city-wide clap that started in NYC to honor the frontline workers.
Again, I know you have lots to scroll through in your feed right now and the weekend is practically upon us, but if you've happened to make it this far into my long caption, I hope this serves as your sign to support your local arts community, wherever you live. I guarantee you, there are some wonderful artists out there who poured parts of their souls into their work during the depths of 2020 — and it's their work that will grip your heart and punch you in the stomach in the most beautiful, cathartic and yes, absolutely necessary way.
