ELThis is not the first time she's done this. But I didn't catch the first time on camera. The first time I had just given her the button SLEEPY. And, as with this time, I was in the kitchen making a cheese sandwich, and she said SLEEPY LIE DOWN BEDROOM.
I was astonished and delighted at such a contextually appropriate use of this new button. So I went into the bedroom to lie down and have a little nap with my cat. Who did not arrive. So I went back to see where she was and she was on the counter eating my sandwich.
What I have learned is that if Elsie attempts to get me out of the room while I am doing food prep, the food must be secured.
She has also done things like asked me for a treat after she's had enough. And when I told her no she asked for training, and when I said no to that as well, she said, "HELIX WANT TRAINING." Helix, her late companion cat, was completely asleep and did not want training.
Scientists have documented multiple instances of animals lying in the wild and tested this in laboratory settings. This is a thing they do. Elsie can just do it with words now.
