HAThe biggest mistake people make with wet cat food.
We were doing this too at the beginning. We would put wet food in the bowl and leave it there for a long time thinking “he’ll eat it when he’s hungry”.
The problem is that wet food should not stay out for hours. Once it sits at room temperature, bacteria start growing quite quickly. On top of that the food dries out and loses smell, so it becomes much less appealing for cats.
What helped us a lot was changing a few small things.
First, we reduced the kibbles. When a cat fills up on dry food, there is very little motivation to go back to the wet food later.
Second, we started serving the wet food slightly warm. Cold food from the fridge doesn’t smell much, and smell is everything for cats. You can mix in a little hot water or put it in the microwave for a few seconds so it becomes slightly warm. For many cats this makes a big difference.
And if your cat doesn’t eat it after a while, it’s better to remove it and offer fresh food at the next meal rather than leaving it out all day.
Small adjustments, but they completely changed how Hades eats.
