DRMeet our newest ambassador @simplysidnee! Here’s a little bit about her:
“My name is Sidnee Gulick, and I’m a 3rd generation rancher in the Flint Hills of Kansas. I’m a wife and mom of 3. I was raised on a ranch, and I spent most of my childhood in the feed truck with either of my parents or sitting on a truck bed, watching them work. I’m an only child, and I figure they said, “Let’s just have one and make her both.” I work alongside my folks to this day, and they’ve trained me up to meet their expectations as not only a ranch hand but a cowboy and someday step into their shoes. My husband is from an oil family. He worked as a driller for the first several years of our marriage and is now a welder in the oilfield. We are from a one-stop-light town. We married right out of high school and had our first son 18 months later. We have Tad, Ellie, and Tobin, ages 10, 8, and 6. I’ve ridden horses my entire life, and this past year I finally got ahold of my dream horse. As much as he is a vital asset to my work, he is also very precious to my heart. My parents have taught and molded me through example how to have the utmost compassion for livestock, true cattlemen. My grandpa is 91. He came to America in the 50’s from Holland and established our ranch, and he still lives there. His son is my father, and my dad is the backbone of our ranch and family. I aspire to be half the cattleman he is, and he’s one of those quiet, smooth on the ground knows right where to be kind of guy. My mom has always said, “I’d rather wear out than rust out.” I feel that. She will always be the hardest worker in the room. The woman has no quit. So between the two of them, they have made me a mix of both. I’m proud to be their daughter. The thing about ranch life, it’s an industry we kill ourselves to break even. No one’s getting rich. You do it because you love it. It’s in our blood. We do everything we can until we can’t do anymore. That’s what makes a rancher. That’s what makes a cattleman.”
