Sydney’s working class, through their unions and grassroots political organisations, showed up at Port Botany today to back MUA members employed by Certis Security at DP World. These port security workers are taking lawful, protected industrial action to fight for their right to to bargain collectively and seek better wages and conditions at work.
After the company flat-out rejected union claims, workers moved to a one-hour stoppage and the company responded by lining up a shift of non-union replacement labour to try to break their unity and resolve.
Today, Sydney’s working class successfully stopped operations at the security gates to prove a simple point: Solidarity beats scabbery - there will be more protected industrial action if our members at CERTIS don’t get the EBA they deserve.
