KAIn 1992 or ‘93 in an all-night after-hours recording session at then-studio Digital Sound on Spadina I recorded backing and feature vocals on a great track for artist Wolfgang Webb. The track was included in CFNY’s 1993 New Music Search Compilation CD.
Today I recorded backing vocals on a brand new Wolfgang Webb track. Wonderful seeing @wolfgangwebb today. It was like no time had passed. Amazing how music, like time, marches on…

ZEA must watch: CFNY: The Spirit of Radio
CFNY went on the air in 1976 from a small suburban house just north of Toronto and grew into one of the world’s most influential punk, new wave and alternative radio stations . My family moved to Canada in 1981 from Merseyside, we settled an hour east of Toronto. I was 12 years of age, I had a handful of records, a Liverpool kit and a football.
Toronto record stores introduced me to CFNY, and I discovered that they played music that became mine. The station’s signal barely reached our town, so my dad rigged a long coax cable to my ghetto blaster, it was perfect. I spent evenings listening to songs that weren’t on mainstream radio, and making mix tapes. Those broadcasts became my musical foundation.
Christmas Eve with Dave Marsden was part of my holiday tradition. Marsden would air a commercial‑free show full of music and stories . While my family gathered, the broadcast played softly in the background and louder in my bedroom when I slipped away. I’ll be forever grateful to CFNY and to the voices that shaped it, David Marsden, Mary Ellen Beninger, Don Berns, Pete & Geets, Chris Sheppard, Ivar Hamilton, Alan Cross, Beverly Hills, Lee Carter, Live Earl Jive, Hedley Jones and Scot Turner - thank you.
The station played a huge role in my life and continues to influence how I listen to music.

A new documentary, 'CFNY: The Spirit of Radio,' chronicles the rise and impact of the beloved Ontario rock radio station. Launched in 1976, the station (now 102.1 The Edge) quickly become one of the most influential punk, new wave and alternative radio channels across Canada — and globally.
The hour-long documentary features interviews with some of the country’s biggest disc jockeys and rock artists reflecting on the personal and creative impact of the radio station including @rush's Geddy Lee (@geddyimages), @metric's Emily Haines (@choirofthemind), @sum41's @deryckwhibley and more.
The documentary is available to stream for free on @tvodocs and @youtube.
