International disability day happens every year in December and it promotes the rights and cultures of disabled people globally.
It was established by the UN in 1992 to raise awareness and help highlight that disability equals diversity, not disadvantage, saying that over 1 billion people have experience of a disability.
Celebrating disability and raising awareness is so important, I feel that more needs to be done to see more positive representation of people with disabilities in the media and in person. Also I feel that people can be too quick to judge in today’s society and they don’t see past the persons disability and may see them as a bad person because of disability.
Disability can help to tell a different story and a unique perspective, Viewing the world differently.
I see a different ability not a disability, Do things you can do don’t focus on the things you can’t do.

Doctors said her head weighed as much as a bowling ball.
As a child, she faced the kind of cruelty no one deserves: Nicknames like Fat Chin and Buzz Light-year. Classmates sketching her face to humiliate her. Strangers on buses pointing and laughing.
But she refused to disappear. She endured the surgeries needed to save her sight, but she rejected cosmetic surgery. “This is me,” she said.
