🥬 🥬 Here’s how to make 2 delicious dishes with 1 bunch of Swiss Chard {bietola}. Use the leaves to make savory sauteed greens—a side dish packed with bold flavor. Then layer the stems with an egg batter for a cheesy, custardy flan {sformato} that’s perfect sliced and served warm or cold with a salad or as an appetizer. I choose red chard with its bright fuscia stems or rainbow chard with three hues to create a colorful harlequin effect. Both dishes are healthy, beautiful, show stopping side dishes to add to your repertoire. Tell me in the comments if you love chard and will make these dishes! Just follow my tutorial and play around with amounts of garlic, chili pepper, cheese, and color—then let me know your results… #recipe #cookingvideo #cookingtips #swisschard #eatyourveggies #eartourgreens #twoforone #deborahcooks #cookingwithdeborah #italiancooking #vegetables #healthy

Cooked like this, chard is a Swiss Army knife on a plate: eat it with (or in) scrambled eggs, next to roasted chicken or fish, or dress up some pasta with it. Find the full recipe in the blog archives! ✨Simple Sautéed Chard✨ 1 bunch rainbow chard 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp unsalted butter 1 garlic clove, finely chopped Salt and pepper Lemon juice, to taste Slice the ends off the chard and discard. Slice the leaves off the stems and set the stems aside. Cut the leaves into whatever size you wish, then clean thoroughly and drain. Slice the stems into chunks and rinse them well. Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic, 1/4 tsp salt, and chard stems and sauté until softened (a few minutes). Add the chard leaves and cook, stirring occasionally, until wilted. Add another 1/4 tsp salt, some black pepper, and about 1 tbsp lemon juice. Stir and taste for seasoning. Eat warm. Swiss Chard might be the most underrated plant ever! Did you you know that it can grow in all the seasons - spring, summer & fall too? It’s frost tolerant, makes a great substitute for spinach (to add bulk & fiber to your diet) and is packed with vitamins & minerals! And it’s oh so gorgeous!! My favorite varieties to grow from seed are Rainbow Swiss Chard, Peppermint Swiss Chard (seen in the video) and Lipstick Swiss Chard. If you’re skeptical about the taste, you must make SWISS CHARD, APPLES & CHEESE FLATBREAD: I layer garlic naan with lots of chopped chard, add thinly sliced apples on top & sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, salt & pepper. Pop into the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 mins until naan or flatbread is crispy and cheese has melted. Drizzle with a bit of balsamic vinegar & enjoy! 😋 Full recipe in my book Vegetable Gardening Made Easy (available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, Indigo and more)! Save this post for the recipe & tips too! Hope you’ll be growing lots of Swiss Chard in your garden! 💚 #swisschard #growyourownfood #leafygreens #vegetablegarden #veggiegarden #gardeningtips #beginnergardener #learntogrow #reshgala #njgardening

This Plant deserves a spot in EVERY Garden! 🌱 Chard has a place in my vegetable garden all year round as it’s so easy to grow and is just so versatile. I use the smaller leaves to brighten up salads and as the leaves grow larger I separate the stalk from the stem, so essentially get two vegetables for the space of one. I use the stalks as a colourful celery alternative and the leaf just I would a spinach. Often referred to as Swiss chard - even though it actually originates in the Mediterranean - chard was actually revered in ancient times as a cure for a multitude of ailments. It’s nutrient packed and contains high levels of vitamins K, A and C, magnesium, potassium, iron, fibre and antioxidants. It tolerates quite extreme temperatures meaning I can grow it all year, even throughout winter. Here in the UK I grow multiple successions of it outside throughout the main part of the season and then undercover throughout winter. Have you grow chard before? And what are some of your unsung garden hero’s? #rainbowchard #gardeningtips #vegetablegardening #nodiggarden #wintergarden

Episode 3 of Seasonal Veggie Essentials. This Sauteed Swiss Chard is an all-time fan favorite recipe! Comment the word "chard" and I will send it to you. Reader review: "Loved this recipe. Very easy to prepare and delicious. Makes me want to eat chard often! Thank you!" ~Penny The two keys to making chard taste amazing are: 1. The chards are thick and need more cooking time than the leaves, so chop them up and sautee them with onions, garlic and seasoning. The natural sweetness from the onion will help balance the flavors in the recipe. 2. Finish it off with a splash of balsamic vinegar. The acidity will counterbalance any bitter notes from the greens, so if you think you don't like chard, this is a great trick for you! If you are new here, welcome to Healthy Seasonal where I share weeknight meals and simple seasonal veggies! Chard is one of my favorite vegetables and I grow it in my vegetable garden every summer, but even if you're new to this veggie, you'll love it too if you cook it this way! #healthyseasonal #swisschard
