CHEF MICKEY’S Ok so before I start let me remind you when it comes to Disney, I’m not expecting Michelin star food. (Unless it’s a Michelin star restaurant in Disney, which does exist). Chef Mickey’s is located inside the Contemporary hotel. (I’m waiting for a refurbish of this hotel) (any day now) (needed refurbishing since 1990) (JK) (not really) Something about the atmosphere here reminds me of a cafeteria in college. The food is buffet style. Foodwise there’s nothing particularly special that stands out about it, to me anyway. I wouldn’t go here expecting gourmet and I wouldn’t go here just for the food. However, my kids ate so you can’t argue with that. Now that being said, MY KIDS LOVED IT! Honestly I think Chef Mickeys is great for little kids. If you have older kids it might not be the place for you. But the atmosphere is perfect for young kids. The characters come to your table one after another fairly quickly. They dance around and interact with the kids. It’s a little louder in there so like I said it’s perfect for young kids. They won’t need IPads or any other form of entertainment other than what you’re seeing. I’ve heard Chef Mickey get really bad reviews but honestly it wasn’t that bad. Is the price worth the food? No. But it is worth the memories! I hear it all the time … is character dining worth the extra cost? If you’ve been asking this question, keep reading 👇🏻 How is the food? Buffet style with TONS of options and a variety spread for literally everyone in your party. How is the wait? Since you book these in advance, there really isn’t one! Just show up at your reservation time and you can pretty much be seated and eat right away. Biggest question … how is the interaction with the characters? AMAZING! We did TWO character dining days back to back and had zero regrets! Typically in parks you have to wait in long lines to see these characters, at character dining, you simply enjoy your meal until they come by your table! It’s also not one or two .. it’s quite a few characters! For Minnie’s Hollywood Dine in Hollywood Studios, we saw Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto all dressed up in their Christmas best! Since this was our second character dining, my son knew the drill and patiently waited for each one of them to make their arrival at our table. We just ate our delicious meal and along they came! He was so very excited to interact with and snap a picture with each one of them! I also love how the characters interact with you at the table, they will sign autographs and even try and communicate through their body language. It is so very sweet and really does make you kind of think they are real for a moment 😂 So my overall consensus, if you have littles, this is an absolute must! Even older children and adults get a good sense of fun from it! I do highly recommend you make these reservations as soon as you can to ensure you get in on the day you’d like to dine! One tradition we always do at Walt Disney World is breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. This was our second time doing it, so now we know exactly what to expect. Yes, it’s a little pricey, about $60 per person, but here’s the honest take: the food is good, there are tons of options, and they accommodate dietary restrictions really well. But the real value isn’t the food. It’s the experience. 🥞✨ You’re inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort which is right next to Magic Kingdom. 🏰 You can walk over to the park after breakfast, which is why I highly recommend booking the earliest reservation possible, usually 7 or 8 a.m. Always make a reservation in advance. If you’re staying on property at Walt Disney World, use the complimentary Disney buses. They run constantly between resorts and parks, and you rarely wait long. Super convenient and stress-free. Now here’s my favorite tip 👇🏽 Before our first visit, I did some research and bought Carter a Disney autograph book. When the characters come to your table, they don’t rush you. They take their time, interact, hug, sign, and make it feel personal. The autograph book makes it even more special. This is our second time filling those pages, and now we officially have our “Disney kit” ready to go whenever we return. We keep everything together in a small storage box at home, autograph book, fan, little keepsakes. It makes each trip feel like a continuation of a story instead of a one-off vacation. Disney is expensive. It just is. But if you plan smart and focus on meaningful experiences like this one, it becomes something you’ll treasure for years. 🏰💫 #ChefMickeys #WaltDisneyWorld #DisneyBreakfast #MagicKingdom #disneyfamilytrips
