“In street photography, I use various techniques to capture a sense of motion and fluidity. My favorite method is shooting at a lower shutter speed, around 1/30 or even as low as 1/5. This technique works well for different shots, such as long exposures in busy areas like Tokyo.
Another technique to use is panning shots of cars to convey a sense of speed when the vehicle is in motion.
The biggest challenge is capturing a standout or minimal photo in a busy area. To address this, seek out a specific subject that is doing something appealing and lower your shutter speed to create motion blur from the passing people, ensuring the main subject remains in clear focus.
For a unique effect, try creating a low-shutter-speed looping cinemagraph. Here’s how to do it with your photos:
1) First, set your camera on a tripod, though you can skip this if your camera has good in-body stabilization.
2) Switch your drive mode to high speed and set your shutter speed to 1/5 of a second.
3) Adjust your ISO and aperture based on your lighting. Here are the settings I often use:
3.1) Shutter speed: 1/5
3.2) Aperture: f/14
3.3) ISO: 100
If you don’t have an ND filter, you can increase your aperture to around f/14 or higher to compensate. Keep the ISO as low as possible.
4) Position your subject in front of moving objects, such as vehicles or crowds. When ready, hold the shutter down and capture a burst of photos—about 10 should be sufficient.
5) For editing:
5.1) Edit the first photo and crop it to a 4x5 aspect ratio.
5.2) Sync the settings across the other photos and export them.
5.3) Import the images into your video editing software, setting each photo’s duration to 0.2 seconds.
5.4) Export the video at 1080x1350 resolution to match your 4x5 photos for an Instagram carousel post.”

SHTry this effect called Cinemagraph!
Steps to follow how to do it:
1. Find a train or any moving vehicle as background.
2. Setup camera on a tripod or on a still surface
3. Place model in frame and ask her to stay as still as possible. (No movements at all)
5. My camera settings were set as 1/6, f/2.8, iso100-200
6. Capture at least 10-15 photos on a high burst speed shooting mode whilst the train moves into the frame.
7. Import all the photos in lightroom and edit photos and sync the preset across all of the selected photos.
8. Export the 10+ photos into premiere pro or any video editing software, speed up each photos to like 0.2secs and loop!

JKWell, many of you asked… So here’s how I did it.
The day I posted this, I didn’t have anything planned. So I lazily whipped this little faux cinemagraph together in five minutes… And y’all ate it up! That Reel became the biggest thing that I ever shared on this platform. I can’t explain my feelings towards when things like that happen. I kind of hate it, because it’s so unpredictable to gauge what people will respond to and what will catch traction. But nonetheless, I appreciate the response that you all generously gave.
While this is “technically” not a cinemagraph, maybe I’ll show you folks how to make one of those bad boys here soon.
