AIsolving past papers effectively can save your grade💌
1. the ‘dirty journal’ method
this is the most important one.
every time i solve a past paper, i write down:
• concepts i learned that were NOT in my notes
• mistakes i made (and WHY i made them)
• examiner tricks / repeated patterns
this becomes your real revision notes⭐️
2. track EVERYTHING (don’t guess your progress)
i keep a record of:
• which papers i’ve done
• my marks in each
• areas i keep losing marks in
this helps you actually SEE improvement instead of feeling stuck.
3. always do papers in timed conditions
if you don’t practice under time pressure, the real exam will feel 10x harder.
train your brain to:
• manage time
• stay calm under pressure
• avoid rushing at the end
4. topicals = only for weak topics
don’t waste time doing every topical.
focus ONLY on topics you’re struggling with📚
5. analyse > solve
solving papers is not enough.
spend MORE time reviewing than solving:
• why did you lose marks?
• what pattern is repeating?
• how can you avoid it next time?
6. learn examiner language
mark schemes have specific wording.
start noticing:
• key phrases
• how answers are structured
this is how you turn a 4/6 into a 6/6.
7. screenshot + redo mistakes
screenshot the questions you got wrong and save them in your notes app.
go back to them after a few days and solve them again.
