April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month 💙 Your story matters. Healing is possible. Since 2019, I’ve supported survivors of sexual assault, helping them navigate their healing journeys in a safe and supportive space. Taking steps toward support is a courageous act, and you don’t have to do it alone. ✨Book a free intro call at the link in bio. #washingtontherapist #illinoistherapist #sexualassaultawarenessmonth #believesurvivors #traumahealing

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 💛 One in three women. In our community — even more hidden. This one is for every survivor who has ever been told their silence was weakness. It wasn’t. In the last 12 years I have worked with thousands of people helping them build the awareness, the tools, and the confidence to protect themselves before they ever need a hotline, a hospital, or a hero. Not after. Before. That’s the shift nobody talks about enough, and it’s exactly what this entire month is about. April is Se%ual Assault Awareness Month AND Child Abuse Awareness Month. Every week this month I’m showing up with real information, real tools, and real conversations. The kind that actually moves people from vulnerable to prepared. From victim to victor. Follow so you don’t miss a single one. Share this with someone who needs to find this page. And drop a comment : where are you from, and what made you stop scrolling today? This work is urgent. You showing up here proves you already know that. #SexualAssaultAwareness #ChildAbuseAwareness #TraumaInformed #PersonalSafety #SelfDefenseForWomen

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month 🤍 and this one is deeply personal for me. I’ve walked through things I wouldn’t wish on anyone 😵‍💫 sexual, physical, emotional abuse… manipulation, trauma, and moments where I didn’t know if I’d ever feel whole again or even make it to the next day. ☠️ But hear me when I say this… healing is happening even when it doesn’t feel like it. 🥺 It’s not always loud, it’s not always pretty, but it is REAL. 💕💪🏽 some days it looks like choosing yourself and setting boundaries some days it’s letting those emotions finally come out instead of holding them in some days it looks like therapy and some days… it’s just surviving and that STILL counts❣️❣️ if that’s you today, I see you, I feel you, and I’m standing with you 🤍 you are not alone you are so worthy of healing and your story is NOT over. what happened to you does not get the final say God does 🤍✨

It’s #sexualassaultawarenessmonth and I wish more people were talking about this version of victim blaming 👇 “If you don’t report and they do this again (to someone else), it’s on you”. Here are just 5 reasons why this mentality is A) inaccurate and B) harmful ⬇️ 1. It clearly places the fault & blame on the victim and takes responsibility AWAY from the perpetrator. 2. It pressures survivors to report to the police when most of us, especially survivors who are QT-BIPOC, don’t feel safe doing so. Many survivors are dismissed by the police and some, particularly marginalized ones, have even been criminalized when reporting. 3. It assumes that the punitive court system is affective in preventing future harm, when actually we know that 99.03% of perpetrators are acquitted - meaning no punishment or accountability happens at all 4. it is the opposite of survivor-centred. There is a lack of focus on what the survivor genuinely needs to begin healing in that moment. Being adversarial and imposing your beliefs on victims is not cool or kind! 5. It assumes that incarceration prevents violence & fails to acknowledge high rates of recidivism. Most perpetrators who are incarcerated do re-offend & if we look at the violent conditions of prison - this isn’t surprising. Shame, isolation & exposure to violence are shown to make people MORE violent. 1 in 5 women and 1 in 14 men will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month—a heavy reminder for those of us who were never believed, never heard, and never given the justice we deserved. This is more than a statistic. It’s real people. It’s real pain. For those of us who have lived this, we know it’s not just a moment—it’s something that can stay with us in different ways. Healing doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some fight, some freeze, some stay silent, some speak out. Every response is valid. You are not alone—even when it feels like you are. 🖤 Support survivors. Listen. Believe. Do better. #sexualassaultawarenessmonth #survivor

It was happening from 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 to 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. When I was in college I was raped. When I turned 30 I entered a relationship with a domestic abuser and I endured another four years of it. You never know what someone has been through in their lifetime. You don’t know the strength it took to put all my broken pieces back together. You can’t even imagine how hard I have to work to keep myself together. 𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮, you didn’t deserve it. 𝐌𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮. It should have 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 happened. You should have been protected. You should have never had to hold someone else’s pain. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭. We all choose to put the pieces back together differently. I can understand why you chose to do what you had to do to survive. if it happened to you, you matter more than you’ll ever know. If you need a place to find the belonging, you have a community of people behind you. You are 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 alone. #sexualassaultawarenessmonth #csasurvivor #yourfeelingsarevalid #breakthechain #endthecycle [video description]: this video shows a woman in her 30s sitting on the floor in what appears to be a bright living room setting. She is wearing a black Ozzy Osbourne t-shirt and tan shorts. She is rubbing her feet as if she is self soothing. There is an on-screen caption that reads, “April is sexual assault awareness month and I hate how aware I am.”
