MOOne of the most repeated cues that I give beginner - intermediate athletes that want to improve their toes to bar (or any other gymnastics movement really) is
“Straight leg arches”
Or
“Straight legs on the way down”
By straightening your legs you will
✅ Improve shoulder position and safety
✅ Create more momentum
✅ Make the next rep easier
✅ Create better compression
✅ Reduce strain on your core muscles
✅ Delay overall fatigue.
This is how I got Ella, Charjae, Patty, Tamás and Fraser, among others, to improve their toes to bar efficiency and go from sets of 3-5 to sets of 15+ in a workout context.
Progressing often involves a lot of things, but sometimes it only takes a small change to create a huge positive impact.!
