We’re featuring a coffee from a farm in Colombia called the @thesantuarioproject — Well known in the world of specialty coffee for their innovative approach to processing, this lot was processed anaerobically with Mossto recirculation and has produced a wild and fruity coffee that tastes like port wine jelly (or your other favourite childhood lolly) with a lovely herbaceous note. Melbourne’s specialty coffee roastery has the MOST innovative brunch @codeblackcoffee ✨ @codeblackcoffee is a Melbourne coffee institution that is driving the coffee culture and brunch situation. They wholesale their beans to many or if not the most of Melbourne’s cafes, and I have to say, their bold yet refreshing notes is one of my favourites. But I finally went to dine at their Flinder’s Lane branch and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try. What makes their menu stand out is they swap out their sourdough bread for signature brunch dishes with their house soda bread. 🍄‍🟫 roasted mushrooms, truffle butter on soda bread 5/5 ✨ 🥩 slow cooked beef eggs benny w potato hash 3.8/5 🍳 truffle baked eggs with pork hock 4.25/5 🫖 brunswick fog 4/5 ☕️ morning bar coco, velvet morning 4.5/5 🍵 matcha gin Fuji cocktail 4.5/5 Highlight was definitely that house soda bread that you can pair or DIY your breakfast plate. It was earthy, yet light, crispy but not as fluffy as your sourdough bread. But it’s different - you really can’t compare. Its skeleton, altho doesn’t soften, can still absorb all that flavour and aroma from their umami filled dishes. Baked eggs is gross imo, but infused with truffle is unreal. That mushroom with truffle butter was beautifully played, but disappeared with an alarming ease. Their menu is slightly tweaked at each branch, but their signature dishes such as their slow cooked pulled beef eggs Benedict will remain a Melbourne brunch fave, altho I did find it a little salty. Their flavours and quality here is incredible - innovative, balanced and delish approved. Honestly cannot pick between their extensive creative range of foods and drinks. Such a vibe here, I could honestly stay here all day in this slick black industrial spot, especially when they make coffees and cocktails all day.
