Here are some of the new features:
- Computer use: Codex gets its own cursor and can click through your actual Mac apps, test flows, and flag issues without you touching anything.
- ImageGen: Built-in image generation (gpt-image-1.5) generates images for real work, like creating assets for slides, mockups, UI, and games
- In-app browser: Preview and test UI, view artifacts for docs, sheets, and slides. Faster build, review, iterate loop

Computer Use lets Codex run automations on your Mac by controlling apps with simulated mouse and keyboard. It can literally act like a user, trying to break your app, fix it, and do it again.
I love the new in-app browser to help me test states, reproduce bugs, and drop comments right on the app to quickly run cleanup prompts.
So much more features that I’m still testing out , but already this is a whole different way to work.

These tiny characters living on your screen aren’t just for fun.
They’re actually live status indicators for an AI agent working in the background.
They show you if Codex is running, waiting for input, or ready for review…
so you don’t have to keep opening the app again and again.
To install and use Codex pets, make sure your Codex app is updated to the latest version.
You can use the pre-made pets right away or create a custom one using the Hatch Pet skill.
Type /pet in the Codex composer or open the command palette using Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows).
Go to Settings > Appearance > Pets to select or wake your pet.
To create a custom pet from an image or a description:Open the Codex composer and type:
$skill-installer hatch-pet
Open the command menu
and select Force Reload Skills.
Hatch your custom pet by typing:
$hatch-pet create [description or prompt]Once generated, go to Settings > Appearance > Pets to select your new custom pet.
