Welcome to Spill the Beans! ☕️🫘 This is our new series where we (the coffee experts) answer the coffee questions people have always wondered about but never thought to ask. From roasting to brewing to what actually makes great coffee… we’re breaking it all down. This week’s question: What’s the difference between espresso and a regular cup of coffee? Here are the main differences: 1.) Espresso is different than black coffee. Espresso is usually a blend ours is a blend of six different kinds of beans. There’s a specific art to roasting it just like there is an art to brewing it. Not every coffee can be espresso or used as espresso. 2.) Brewing Method: Espresso is brewed under high pressure using an espresso machine. Regular coffee is typically brewed using drip, pour over, or a French press. 3.) Grind Size: Espresso uses a very fine grind. Regular coffee uses a medium to coarse grind depending on the brewing method. 4.) Strength & Flavor: Espresso is more concentrated with a bold, rich flavor. Regular coffee is lighter and more diluted. 5.) Serving Size: Espresso is served in small shots (usually 1–2 oz). A cup of coffee is typically 8–12 oz. 6.) Roast (sometimes): Espresso is often roasted to a light or medium roast, while regular coffee can range from light to dark roasts. 7.) How It’s Enjoyed: Espresso is often the base for drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, and americanos, while regular coffee is usually enjoyed on its own! If you’ve ever been curious about something coffee related, drop your questions below. Nothing is too basic, and chances are someone else is wondering the same thing. #coffee #coffeerecipe #espresso #latte #coffeeexpert

You don’t hate coffee. You’re just choosing the wrong roast. Here’s your 10-second roast guide: ☀️ Light → Bright. Acidic. Complex. ⚖️ Medium → Balanced. Smooth. Versatile. 🔥 Dark → Bold. Smoky. Heavy. If your coffee tastes too bitter or too sour, check the roast first. Most flavor differences start here. Save this before your next coffee run. Most home coffee problems aren’t the beans…they’re the grind. Too coarse? Water runs right through and the coffee under-extracts, leaving you with a weak or sour cup. Too fine? The water struggles to pass through the coffee bed, extracting too much and often producing bitterness. Dial in the right grind size and you unlock the delicious flavor that’s actually in the beans. And different brewing methods need different grind sizes — from coarse for French press to super fine for espresso. Derek walks through the full grind spectrum so you can dial in a better cup at home. ☕️ Fresh beans. Proper grind. Way better coffee. #coffeetips #coffeeroaster #baristalife #coffeeeducation #thirdwavecoffee
