D_Despite its dyslexia-friendly features, Comic Sans is the world’s most disliked font, with a lot of its unpopularity coming from the design industry. In response, Dyslexia Scotland launched a campaign that had Comic Sans popping up wherever designers were looking, urging them to adopt a more inclusive mindset. This wouldn’t be achieved by begrudgingly using Comic Sans (despite their disdain for it), but instead by coming up with fresh, dyslexia-friendly fonts that also align with their designs.
The campaign turned heads at D&AD Awards 2023, winning a Pencil in Art Direction. Ricardo Bezerra, CCO at @tatil_design and judge on the Art Direction jury, explains that “the project challenged designers to rethink their truths about typography, inviting them to create more inclusive typefaces.”
