ㅤ 💻 Interesting fact: The simulation hypothesis sounds like sci fi, but it grew from a real physics hunch: information behaves like a measurable thing. If reality has a smallest scale, the universe could be computable, not infinite today. Behind the scenes, the modern debate was popularized by philosopher Nick Bostrom, who argued that advanced civilizations might run ancestor simulations. Scientists still treat it cautiously, hunting instead for anomalies, like lattice patterns in cosmic ray energies. Testing the idea is painstaking. Researchers compare quantum randomness, map background radiation, and simulate universes on supercomputers. Our minds crave clean code because it promises control, even when the data stays messy. That is why this meme keeps looping through feeds. It turns nightly dread into a video game question: are we players or programs? Whether true or not, it pushes you to notice the little glitches of beauty, laughter, timing. In any universe, love still renders in full resolution. via: tt/daily.cosmic

Consciousness might be the most intimate thing we experience… and the hardest thing to explain. Is it computable? Some scientists think parts of it could be: if the brain is a physical system, then in principle its information processing might be modeled and simulated. Neuroscience frameworks like Global Workspace Theory describe consciousness as information becoming widely available across the brain—something that can be expressed computationally in terms of broadcasting and integration. Others argue that even if we simulate every function, we may still miss the “felt experience” (the why it feels like something). Philosophers call this the hard problem of consciousness, and it reminds us that computation may explain behavior without fully explaining subjective experience. So maybe the most honest answer is this: ✅ Some aspects of consciousness may be computable (attention, memory, reporting, integration). ❓ Whether subjective experience itself is computable remains an open scientific and philosophical question. And that mystery is not a weakness of science — it’s an invitation to deeper humility. Ada Lovelace, 1843. She did not promise magic, she showed method: if the rules are clear, a machine can manipulate symbols from any domain, even compose music. The spark was giving shape to thought. Since then, computing became a lens. Turing formalized the computable. Shannon measured information. The FFT powers streaming and MRI. Graphs and PageRank showed that relevance is born from connections. Computer vision helps medical triage. AlphaFold shortens paths in biology. NLP reads mountains of documents. Molecular simulation anticipates the wet lab. Computational thinking, far beyond the code editor. That is why, even with low level commoditized and AI completing functions, CS is more valuable. It is not memorizing syntax. It is framing the right problem, choosing structures that fit in your head and in the machine, reasoning about complexity, understanding p95 latency, designing interface contracts that survive reality, keeping invariants under pressure. Turning black boxes into APIs. If you work in tech and feel stuck firefighting, remember the why. You do not write to please the linter. You write to move the needle. Ada did not promise magic, she showed method. Today the black box became an API and you have pencil and ruler to redraw what truly hurts. Name the pain, define the contract, ship version 0.1, turn on telemetry and learn live. There will be 2am silence, tests that fail, doubt that hits hard. Remember why you started. It was never about syntax, it was about impact. The machine repeats. You give meaning. Take authorship now. Which bug in your world will you fix today so that tomorrow the machine scales your courage and someone on the other side says that was exactly what I needed? #adalovelace #computerscience #programming #computationalthinking #softwareengineering #algorithms #distributedsystems #ai #data #product #innovation Credits: @20vchq

Computer science is the formal study of computation, serving as the bridge where abstract logic meets physical execution. At its core, Turing Machines and mathematics provide the theoretical foundation, establishing the boundaries of what is "computable" and using discrete structures to model complex systems. Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) represent the strategic application of that math, organizing information and defining the most efficient paths to solve problems. Finally, coding is the practical realization of these theories, translating mathematical logic and algorithmic design into a machine-readable language to build functional technology. @statcsmemes ... #mathmemes #csmemes #computerscience #edit #csedit #tech #programming #stem #engineering #science #math #mathmemes #academia #compsci

The Ackermann function is one of the most mind mending constructs in theoretical computer science and in mathematics. The Ackermann function is a fascinating and extreme example in computability theory, a function that’s total and computable, yet not primitive recursive A B. That means it can be calculated for any input, but it grows so explosively that it defies the bounds of simpler recursive functions. Definition (Ackermann–Péter version) The most commonly studied form is the two-variable Ackermann–Péter function: A(m, n) = n + 1 if m = 0 A(m - 1, 1) if m > 0 and n = 0 A(m - 1, A(m, n - 1)) if m > 0 and n > 0 This recursive definition leads to astronomical growth. For example: • A(1, 2) = 4 • A(2, 2) = 7 • A(3, 3) = 61 • A(4, 1) = 2^65536 − 3 (a number with over 19,000 digits!)
