Being a consumer, you don't have to deal with a lot, like stuck refunds, poor service, or damaged product delivery The government has streamlined the process to register a grievance against the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) This is a pre-litigation process in which you can complain regarding the 1️⃣ Consumer Grievance 2️⃣ Misleading Advertisements 3️⃣ File a Consumer Complaint on E Daakhil A notification is shared by the officials with the company, and the officials also follow up on whether the issue has been resolved or not Even the company has to update the status of the grievance on the portal within 30 days Now, here are a few examples where the National Consumer Helpline can be helpful A Mumbai resident received a damaged laptop from an online order. After failed attempts with the seller, NCH helped secure a replacement within 15 days. In Delhi, a consumer got a refund after NCH facilitated the correction of an overcharged electricity bill. A Bangalore senior citizen left with incomplete renovation work got a resolution through NCH’s intervention. In Chennai, NCH ensured a rejected phone warranty claim was honoured. A Pune customer who bought expired food received a refund, and the store improved inventory practices. These cases show NCH’s vital role in resolving complaints and protecting consumer rights across sectors. Chennai North District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission directed a watch service centre that failed to service and return a customer’s premium watch to complete the service and pay a compensation of Rs 15,000. The complainant, identified as Swathy S, of Villivakkam, got a fossil watch worth Rs 50,000 as a gift from her family members. Besides the monetary value, the said watch is of high sentimental value for the complainant and was safely in possession for many years. In May 2024, Swathy had approached the opposite party, P Orr and Sons Pvt Ltd, to get her watch serviced. The service centre had promised that the watch would be serviced and delivered in June 2024, and she would be charged Rs 2,700 for the service. On the said date, when Swathy approached the service centre, she was informed that the service would be completed in two days. However, the centre continued giving the same reply every time she visited the place. It is very honoured to argue the case in behalf of my client swathy 👩‍⚖️💯🙌🏻
