Make the most of your time in class with these methods! ✅📚✍🏼👩🏼‍🎓 - THE METHODS: 1️⃣ Cornell Note Taking Method - split the page into 3 sections: a) Note Taking Column - write down the key points, concepts and diagrams that you learn during the lesson. Add any additional details you need to after class b) Cue Column - once your notes hare complete, write down a set of keywords or cues that you can test yourself on the main content with c) Summary - summarise the entire page at the bottom, as concisely as possible, to reinforce understanding 📃 . 2️⃣ Mind-Mapping - start with a blank sheet of paper for each topic. Create a mind-map, combining the information from your notes, textbook and any other resources. Link key ideas, expand on concepts you need/want to know more about ✍🏼 . 3️⃣ Colour-Coded Notes - write your notes using pretty stationery and lots of colours! Assign each colour a different meaning (eg. One for headings, one for formulas, one for key words etc) 🎨 . 4️⃣ Question-Answer - structure your notes such that each paragraph starts with a question, and then goes on to answer that question. To make it more effective, build your questions off the learning objectives study guide ❓ . 5️⃣ Diagrams - base your notes entirely around diagrams (eg of processes, structures) 🖼️ - #studyhacks #studytips #studygram #studywithme #studentlife #students #studysmart #studynotes #topstudent #goodgrades #studyspo #studyspiration #studymotivation

Step 1 ✅ Comment “GUIDE” for my free study guide with more tips and tricks Step 2 ✅ Follow @the_studycoach for more free study tips! 🙌🏼 Cornell method: Think of your notes as a strategic plan. Divide your page into three sections: one for main ideas, one for details, and one at the bottom to summarize. It’s like creating a map to navigate all the important information. Blurt and learn: Picture your brain as a quick learner! After you read or hear something, challenge yourself to recall and explain the main points without looking at your notes. It’s like playing catch with your thoughts, reinforcing what you’ve learned. These methods are great for a first review, like right after class or in the evening. For later reviews, try different active recalling methods like the Feynman technique, quizzes, or mind-maps 🫡 ⬆️ Follow @the_studycoach if you want to learn more about these methods 🙌🏽 #study #studygram #studymotivation #studymethods #college #university

📒✨ HOW TO TAKE BETTER NOTES – THE CORNELL METHOD Struggling to remember what you study? Try the Cornell Method 👇 📝 Step 1: Divide your page into 3 sections ▪️ Right side (main notes) – write key concepts, formulas, diagrams ▪️ Left side (cue column) – add questions & keywords ▪️ Bottom – write a short summary 🎯 Step 2: Don’t copy everything. Focus on understanding. Use bullet points, not full paragraphs. ❓ Step 3: Turn notes into questions After class, write questions in the left column. Example: What is oxidation? What is the difference between oxidation and reduction? 🧠 Step 4: Study actively Cover the notes. Answer the questions from memory. Check yourself. Repeat weekly. 💡 Why it works? Because it uses active recall + repetition — the most effective way to learn. Save this for your next study session 📚✨ #studygram #cornellmethod #fast #notes #instagood

READ MORE ⬇️ ——— QOTD: handwritten notes or digital notes? Everyone learns differently so you should find a system that works for you and what you are studying. The important elements to remember in any system are: The important elements for any system are: • Include enough detail to use (and transform) the notes later • Take notes in your own words instead of just transcribing • Be brief, paraphrase and abbreviate • Leave space to add information from other sources or research and answer any questions you may have Here are some different notetaking methods you could try: [📝] THE OUTLINE METHOD —> Uses headings and bullet points to organise topics. —> Each section starts with a heading of the main topic and each subtopic and supporting fact is written underneath —> Each time there is a development in the information, you should indent to the right [🎓] THE CORNELL METHOD —> Organises class notes into easily digestible summaries —> It uses two top columns (for “cues” and “notes”, together with a single bottom row (“summary”) to record notes —> The summary and the cues should be simple because your notes are where you want all of the details [📦] THE BOXING METHOD —> Uses boxes to visually separate topics within a page. —> A dedicated box is assigned for each section of notes which cuts down the time needed for reading and reviewing —> This method works best with digital notetaking, using features such as lassoing, resizing, and moving text around [🗺] THE MAPPING METHOD —> Connects different thoughts, ideas, concepts, and facts together through visualisation —> The main topics branch out into subtopics with detailed information about each. —> Starting with the main topic at the top of the map, keep dividing it into subtopics as you go down the page [📈] THE CHARTING METHOD —> Uses charts to classify information within rows and columns —> TBest for subjects with factual or statistical information that can be compartmentalised into tables —> The information is organised in several columns with each column representing a unique category ——— #studynotes #studytips #studygram #studyblr #notetakingtips #notetakinggoals #cornell #revisionnotes

How I built my profile strong enough to get into Cornell 👇 1. Strong internships I had 2 internships by the time I graduated. Try to get ones that connect to your field or show leadership, initiative, or real impact. 2. Strong GPA Mine was 9.2. Ideally, aim for 9+. It shows consistency and discipline, which top schools value a lot. 3. Strong LORs (Letters of Recommendation) Your professors should be able to vouch for your work ethic, analytical ability, and leadership. Don’t pick the most senior person, pick someone who actually knows your work. 4. SOP (Statement of Purpose) This is your story. It should clearly answer: • What’s your goal? • What have you done so far to achieve it? • Why this school? • How will it help you reach your goal? Quantify wherever possible and connect your story with the program’s strengths. 5. Projects or Research Work Even small college or independent projects matter if you can show problem-solving, innovation, or curiosity. 6. Extracurriculars and Leadership Show that you contribute beyond academics. Leading clubs, starting initiatives, volunteering, or organizing events all highlight initiative and people skills. 7. Networking and Outreach Talk to current students or alumni. It helps you understand what the school values and lets you tailor your SOP better. Some of my best ideas came from those chats. I have literally proofread 4-5 SOPs of people who reached out to me! 8. Clarity of Goals Top schools look for direction. Even if you switch paths later, your application should show purpose and intention. 9. Consistency Across Application Make sure your resume, SOP, and LORs all align around one central story. A cohesive narrative always stands out.
